I have explored all through New Eden - Hisec, lowsec, nullsec and wormhole space. It used to be that the rats in hisec Radar sites (now data sites?) were killable with a single drone from an imicus. On the other hand, the sleeper drones in wormhole Radar sites needed a fairly beefy ship to manage.
So, I am now returning to Eve after about a year away, and exploration has changed!
To work on my ship loadout, I need to know about the rats that can be expected in the types of sites, particularly the data and relic sites. The only thing anyone seems to be talking about is the new hacking game mechanic itself, but I want to know about the NPC pirates.
I have been told there are no rats in hisec and lowsec data/relic sites - is this true? They used to have some weak ones. What about nullsec/wormhole space? What can be expected there?
Thanks for your help - I would hate to waste ISK on deadspace tanking modules and find that the rats are pathetic. |

True. Since Odyssey

Nullsec, no rats in relic or data sites. WH space - sleepers. |

Null never has rats in site naturally but they can spawn if you fail a hack. I've had that happen a time or two. They aren't much to speak of. They could probably kill an untanked covops, but honestly you should be warping away before they lock. |

I have heard occasionally that drone data/relic sites have npcs still. Not sure if that was true or not.
But yeah OP here's the low-down:
Get t2 covops frig. Fit both analyzers, t2 highly recommended. Fit a cargo scanner, this is mandatory standard lowslots, rigs, whatever. If you're dedicated get the EY-1005 implant.
Go to nullsec, run data relics. Use cargo scanner to skip low-value cans. Cherry-pick the good stuff in relics, especially. Learn what the good stuff is, don't hack a can that only has a single 400k isk decryptor.
Also works with t3 of course.
I did this the other day, made over 300m in a few hours, and that was without getting a faction tower blueprint or anything.

I've failed a few hacks and not seen this happen. Worst thing that seems to happen is you get extra junk scatter containers. The container blows up after the second hack. "CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"

I've seen it... twice? Fairly rare and I think they were both relics. Can't recall. Same deal; second fail the can pops -- and rats also appear in site. |
