Hey,
I looked on the setups thread, but I couldn't find what I was looking for. I'm looking for a setup for solo 0.0 PvP. Interested in both heavy and assault setups.

I've never flown one as a solo heavy missile boat, but inty-hunting the following is good:
5xassault launcher (t2 if you can)
1xAB/MWD 1xtarget painter 1xweb 1x20k scram 1x large shield extender
2xBCU or 1xBCU 1xSensor Booster
I tend to use it in groups with the target painter and 2xBCU - solo you can drop the target painter since it seems to make very little difference to the damage the missiles do and you'll need a sensor booster or you're unlikely to get a frigate locked before he can run. It's tried and tested against t1 frigs and interceptors - it also took down a corpmate's interdictor in a solo fight (flycatcher) and I've taken down corpmate assault frigates when testing. Be interesting to see how it'd do against the real thing, mind.
I would imagine for heavy launchers just go 5x and see what else you can cram in - if you're looking cruiser vs cruiser you'd definitely need the afterburner or probably the MWD to hold range, because the Caracal's made of balsawood and papermache, so will die very quickly under sustained fire. Definitely need to drop the large extender - not sure if you could get a medium in instead. But the Caracal doesn't tank well so it's probably not the option.

3x hvy launcher 2x assaults
1x 10mn AB 1x 20km scram 3x sensor damper OR 2x sensor damp and 1x web
2x bcu
Keep range 15-20km. Do not use at scramming range vs. BS solo. Named EW will let you run things much longer.
This is the only ship I break my "use all one type of weapon" rule.

Both those setups look good to me. I don't bother with shield extenders or boosters on a Caracal. It doesn't add enough defense if you are caught by anything bigger than you anyway. Better to use the slot for a sensor booster or painter. As one corp mate put it, " No matter the defense mods, the Caracal tends to go down like a wet paper bag"
I find this true, but I really like the ship.

I'm still skilling up atm so don't quite have the required power output needed for this, but I'm hoping to go something like this.
4x Heavy Launcher II 1x Assault Launcher
2x Large Shield Extender II 1x Invulnerability Field I 1x Magnetic Scattering Amplifier I 1x Target Painter II
1x Warp Core Stabilizer I 1x Sensor Backup Array II
Using invul shield with lvl 4 shield compensation skills and the magnetic scattering amp should give you enough tank for ships your size or smaller, anything bigger comes your way and you should be able to get out alive.
I may drop a shield extender and replace it with a named webber for inty's.

Hello Indeed many setups do have a very poor defence but, there is allways a but, some don't: hi: 5*arbalest assault med: 1*invulnera/ 4*t2 large extenders (for a budget setup use t1, i tried with t2 cose i had them around and i wanted to see if it fits well) low:2*pdu2 (again t1 is fine) U have 11k shields with ur lowest res of 25 on em I can't remeber if u put shiled relays in lows if it fits but with 3 large extenders and 2 invulnera in med it dose but it kills ur cap in 5-6 min but for a lowest res of 43(?)EM. I fited another extender setup with heavys: hi: 5* malkuth (those were around arbys might fit (i had them at 5 jumps and i'm lazy:P) med: 2*large t2 extenders/2*invulnera/1*med shield booster t2 low: pdu t2/ rcu i think The cap is a problem so u won't be able to boost much so the sb in med can be replaced with something else...this setup is still in trial. Hope this help.
P.S. u can put 5*rocket launchers for a close range setup (i think dps is better then 5*assault but geting in range and keeping there can prove a chalange P.P.S. All these setups are for a small gang where u have a takler, if u are alone replace a module witha 20 km scram:P ... A wise man never plays TAG with a RINO |

It can kill any untanked cruiser and any AF at all in the game within 30 seconds, and it can kill basically any tanked cruiser if you're careful. The vexor is the only real challenge I've encountered.
5x heavy launcher II (Precision vs frigs, Rage vs everything else) 2x large shield extender II 20km disruptor + webber Jammer or EM hardener 1x RCU2 + BCS, or if you don't have the skill 1x RCU + 1x PDU. 2x Warrior drones
Its uber. 6500 shield, absolute craploads of damage, and resists NOS setups (just stick on Rage and they have no cap to take from you). And it definitely doesn't go down like a wet paper bag.

Wouldn't it be better to fit 2x RCU II and 3x Large Extenders?
edit: although one of the extenders would have to be T1/named
