A carrier can detach its fighter drones and assign them to another ship. My questions are:
I) what happens if this ship (say interceptor) is killed/cloakes/jumps out system. Do the drones return to the carrier or do they keep on fighting? I gues the interceptor only points to the ship in question and the fighter drones (they have a crew after all) could keep on fighting. And if this happens will they idle or return to the carrier after the intended target is destroyed?
II) what happens if the target warps away and the fighter drones chase. Can the interceptor make them go back to the ship or is a new randevous at the carrier needed?
III) Do the drone control units witd advanced drone interfacing skill enable the deployemend of extra fighter drones?
anybody got the chance to try these things? (test server is down so i can't)

Yes, like it says in the description, you get one additional fighter in space per module you fit, and you can fit one module per level of advanced drone interfacing you have. --- High quality screenshots of most ships in EVE!

I dont know what happens when ship jumps out trough a gate, but if it's destroyed fighters are staying in space (they become inactive)

You need to call them back after they stop warping. There is no other way. It doesnt require carrier visit AFAIK

wow, some actual valid carrier questions, instead of the usual noob question: " can carriers go into jita and mine? " type :)
I would like to know these questions aswell.
i believe question 1 would be the drones return to the carrier, if they don't and just sit there it would be lame. U wouldn't want the squad of fighters to just go dead in the water when the assigned pilot dies/cloaks leaves system, cos unless he told u that he died etc, you wouldn't know to recall them to ur carrier.
number 2 i think would be taht if the assigned guy has control of the fighters, he can recall them to himself just as the carrier can, using the drones in distant space part in the overview drone area.
number 3 i think is yes, those mods are designed to go on capitol ships, so i assume or hope it would include fighters :)
i have a question to add regarding fighters:
can multple carriers assign all their fighters to a single BS pilot? say 5 carriers each with 6 fighters assign their 30 fighters to a BS pilot, giving him command of 30 fighters.

Drone skill limits pilot's ability to controll Fighters. If pilot has lvl 3 Drones he can controll 3 fighters. Lvl 5 will enable him to controll 5 fighters. -------------------------------------------

Here is another:
can a carrier enter a pos forcefield after assigning a fighter drone to someone? Or will the drone idle once you do that?

You can sit inside of force field while your fighters are outside of it fighting under command of other pilots. You can even assign new fighters to other players while beeing inside of force field. You dont have to lock anyone to do that. -------------------------------------------

That is a handy feature. Suppose i would deploy a small pos, then i could park a carrier or a number of carriers inside and they would be very safe. I gues an average corp can equip at least two so one could do ops or even mine in low sec because you could kill pirates easily. I gues with a little training in the jump calibration department one could do a nice ninja mining ops while raping the occasional pirate in a thorax/zealot. This way mining would be fun.

as for ninja mining: I think it's gigantic overkill :P But still: you can put 2 x industrial ships with cargo expanders into your carrier's ship hangar. With the help of a second pilot you can expand your "cargo hold" to around 25-30K m3 easly.
But still... mining in a carrier should be bannable offence :-) -------------------------------------------

It is not because of the ore, its a pirate trap. What pirate can resist a nice fat mining ops? they lock and then.... tadaaaah in warp 15 templars. that would be slamming the i win button pretty hard :-)

Yeah. I should be nice suprise for small gang of pirates :-) Fighters DPS is preety high so adding them to normal mining op protection should be enough to give pirates a rough ride :-) -------------------------------------------
