I asked myself for some time what the stat was about (Electronic Warfare other than tackle/web actually came last in my interest in fights). Now that I know what it does, it seems so situational that I ask myself if it is not totally overshadowed by the other stats of the ships. Is it really any useful in PvE/PvP or are ECM more frequent than I imagine ? And if it's not so useful, shouldn't CCP find a way to polish its luster by making SS less unfrequently useful ? Like making it somehow apply to tracking disruptor and sensor dampeners as well as ECM, like a generic protection against all kind of anti-attack crowd control ? |

Jammers are VERY VERY VERY common in PVP, everyone packs jamming drones at least and dedicated jamming ships are still common. |

on certain ships SS can help make it harder to be probed out. Good use would in be in pve in certain t3's like loki and tengu. If whoever is looking for you needs that extra bit of time for lock, its more time to gtfo for you.
Also pve wise this being high is par for the course with gurista. Get it high enough and it can be real easy money in say caldari boats. Just slam them with kinetic and not see jams nearly as often. On my high SS tengu setup I look at gurista as ATM missions. CCP should just pay me as I might see one jam once in a while even in stuff like GE.
Could have pvp uses I guess as well riding out timers bouncing safes...or worst case you have to sit (like rl stuff has you leave right now right now). |

Jammers are common and favorite in PvP, although they use juice in bigger fights and damps are solid competition, as those are not chance based and good on unbonused ships as well. Thing with sensor strength modules (ECCM) is that they are effectively useless until there are jammers in the fight. If there are not, you have slot wasted, it does not add anything else. But there's nothing wrong with training sensor compensation skills, might be the difference between drones jamming you or not. |

Thanks for the input, I will definitely look into sensor compensation skills at least. |

There's a bit of a discussion of them here. They're not universally useful but they do have the potential to help quite a bit. |

EDIT: Still one thing, what are the Multi-Spectrum Sensors used for ? Some ships have more than 1 kind of sensor ? |

Used for people too lazy to match sensor types, plausibly those in null who don't want to haul out all four. |
