i already know the forum rules, and to quote (verbatim) about these rules in question:
Quote:"Posting of kill reports outside of the Crime & Punishment forum channel is prohibited. More often than not, posts of this nature are made with inflammatory intent and are designed to promote trolling and flaming. Therefore, the posting of links to kill reports from any third party site, or the direct copy-pasting of kill reports from in game is prohibited on all forum channels of the EVE Online Forums, with the exception of the Crime & Punishment Channel."
"The posting of killmails is permitted, however following criteria must be met:
a) The name of the victim must be removed or covered up. b) The killmail must be posted along with constructive text/content. This means no posting new threads with simply a killmail in it without a comment. c) The killmail must be posted directly into the post and may not be a link to a third-party site."
"The reason behind these rules was a spate of threads seeking to embarrass other players, such as those with poor set-ups. Killmails are not supported by us and given the ease of forgery, threads with killmails in them tended to descend into arguments about the veracity of them. To foster a better community spirit, killmails will be removed from any post that do not follow the above rules."
And to this, i offer this LINK and statement:
Quote:"I don't suck at eve, I just find ways to make it interesting."
And before CCP thinks I've gone too far and must be banned from the forums, (since doing so breaks rules 1, 2 AND 3), the LINK'ed killmail is mine. I WAS THE VICTIM. I had to post a HORRIBLE loss of my own because (i will admit) I was being stupid. (Warping to a wreck 300km off station, in the middle of a warzone, to salvage a wreck is WAY beyond being stupid.) And, yes, I learned from my mistakes. Posting of text-format kills in a forum poses a different problem (falsifying data) for those not understanding of how a killmail works:
Quote:
- Yes, you lost a ship.
2. Yes, you feel bad/sad/angry/frustrated/confused. 3. Yes, things will be different. 4. No, it's not okay to run to the forums (or file a petition) and post the kill saying that you need a replacement ship and the "other guy" needs to be banned.
What should be permitted should be a more "new-player" oriented [place] where one can link a kill or display a loss and receive better info on that kill/loss to better one's playstyle for either immediate- or future-reference.
So far, links to eve-kill.net or battleclinic.com are displayed in the community spotlight as a killmail reference, but not as a learning tool. themittani.com offers an ALOD (Awful Loss Of the Day) as a learning tool for new and experienced players, posing the faction modules against the tech 1 & 2 modules to explain cost-effectiveness of using a T2 mod over a faction, officer, or deadspace mod to better keep players from being exposed to ganking or any PvP in highsec areas.
I applaud CCP for changing the combat history and combat modes to better the UI (and the API linking), but how about we take it one step further and change an outdated idea into a learning tool to draw the random player into this universe known as EVE. It'd be nice to see what CCP would do to create an OFFICIAL Killboard, after making the SISI look sweet, and give a cleaner feel to the new(er) pilots that view them. Basically, there's hundreds or thousands of pilots in highsec on a daily basis and hundreds or thousands of internet spaceships being blown up every day. Personally, I'd want it to be like my first day of eve, where I saw one of the capital kills and was like:
"I want to pilot that." Oderint, dum metuant. Let them hate, so long as they fear. -Accius |
