Edited by: Zhon on 18/03/2006 21:47:07 This just a thought that me and some friends had while spamming cruise missles at rats in low sec. It occured to us that the technology envolved in the world of EVE while for the most part is far more advance than modern day tech has huge gaps in simple usabilty and common sense.
Even modern day Intercontinental Cruise missles can receive data-bursts to self-destruct and or redirect to a new target. This seem like a very big gap in logic. You think a race capable of Space travel would have thought of a concept this simple.
So the first thing that comes to mind for me is for cruise missle automatically to seek the next target. Now i know that there will be a whine-fest on that so that is out of the question.
My sujestion is why not have a module like a target painter that marks the next target and when the current target is destroyed the already deployed cruise missles will aquire that target and spend what flight time they have left traveling to it and detonating. There should be a re-acquisition lock time like 3-5 sec.
In other words the missiles would spend 12 sec traveling to target and then have to spend time reaquiring it (3-5 sec) then it will have the remanding time after locking to get to its target.
It should either be a Highslot or a Midslot module, I would go with Midslot, but that is me.

It'd be nice if you don't waste two or three volleys per target. It'd help in fleet battles too. It'd be really cool to keep redirecting to multiple targets and suddenly having 3 or 4 volleys all converge on one.
I fail to see how aside from saving some ammo, it'd make a significant difference though. And for it to be a mid-slot item, it'd probably never see any use whatsoever.

This would make a very effective fleet battle item.

Well rather than it being a common sense thing.....
The biggest problem with a missileboat is the delay between firing your first volley and it hitting your target. With this module after the intial volley is fired you could keep a continous ROF on your targets like a Gunboat. Not to mention not waisting 4-6 volley of missles and having to reload all the fraggin time when you are out at 230km.
Someone said it would be fun too lauch 4 volleys and have it switch target continously, then hit one target all at once. Well firstly with the way i setup you could do that. So their would be no exploiting it. The target would be hit with the same ROF with or with out the module.
All the module does it keep from waisted missles and time. It makes perfect since that after killing a target 200km away that ravens inflight missiles could reaquire another target and seek it out. Like he said it would be great for Fleet combat.
I guarantee if they came out with this module missleboat pilots would fit it has a midslot or a highslot module.
