Greetings all,
These past few days i have been looking over the stats and abilities of these two ships (Rook & Curse) and have decided that i'm totally in love with both. However, seeing as i can only train my way towards one of them, i have a very tough decision to make. It seems to me that the Rook might be more useful/versatile (solo, fleet, etc.) where as the Curse seems like it could be a nightmare in specific situations. Though seeing as i'm reletivly new to EVE, i could be totally off. I was hoping that anyone who has had the chance to test either or both of these amazing ships could weigh in with some honest opinions. Before any of you tell me that i should just pick the ship that goes with the role i want to play, i just want to express that it's the ship i'm interested in, and i will play in whatever style the ship is best at.
Thanks for your time and your input!

The Rook is an electronic warfare machine, and will disable practically anything it sets its sights on. Not as much in the way of offence compared with the Curse, which is terrifying against ranged turret ships but suffers against missile and drone boats. It depends what you want - a Rook could jam a Curse, but a Curse can kill more quickly and has at least some line of defence (cap killing) if its ECM isn't working properly.

Both ships are very nice. I have made some experience with the Curse and lost two of them so far. They die pretty quick under bad circumstances but I still love the Curse. It is the best non-faction ship (Bhaalgorn) available with a NOS bonus. Contrary to all 'nerf the nos' threads nosferatus are not the I win button. Before the Curse came to TQ everybody said it's overpowered. Today you can get them for a 'cheap' price compared to other t2 cruisers.
I think the Rook is more effective and versatible. I very much hate the 'you jam me and I am dead or I jam you and you are dead' kind of combat these days, though. I can't understand how anyone can enjoy it. One reason for me not to fly the Rook. Tracking disruptors pn Curse are very powerful (overpowered like most ew) as well.
Btw I have lost my 2nd Curse vs a Rook and some support. I have had bad luck with my 28 * 1.6 = 44.8 radar strength. On the other hand if he didn't managed to jam me with his first attempt then he would not had a second chance due to my NOS. Combat today with all those ecm is a very disappointing experience. It's role the dice with nice graphics. But that's another (sticky) topic.

You stated that you are a newer player, and then you ask for advice but state you wish us to omit the parts you dont want to hear? Im not out to flame you, however the advice of choosing based upon your desired game play is by far the best advice anyone in this game can give/take. That being said, my advice is to not only look at the ships you listed, but the entire line of ships for each race. This allong with your play style will lead to the answer you are after.

I'm sorry, i didn't mean for my statement to come off quite the way it did. Perhaps there is a way i could have worded it better. i'm just looking for more replies pointing out the positives and negetives of each ship, rather than someone just saying "pick the ship that suits your style" and nothing else, which i seem to see a lot of. Since i plan on being a specialist pilot, the other ships in the race don't matter to me as much.
i don't mean to write off anyone's advice and appreciate all the replies so far. keep them coming

youre right, rook is the better ship overall, the curse is great but cannot handle everything. sadly though, 5 t2 heavies will shred either ship with ease :(. rook would handle it better because of longer range, id go with rook. ------------------------------------------- "Det hSr kan betyda krig!" |

Its hard to say what is right for you.
Both of these ships are precision tools that are most useful is small groups.
I can fly both but have only used the curse and pilgrim so far.
The curse is an excellent ship. It helped a small group of us devestate a larger group with bigger ships. You do have to choose your battles carefully though because it is fragile and relies on guile more than firepower / tanking.
As was said - the rook is a SCARY EW ship. It easily has the potential to shut down a mini gang of enemies.
Choose wisely, both ships have a long line of support skills needed to enable them to reach their full potential

Curse is a solo pwn mobile...drains target cap in 18 seconds, drones him...and.... jams him
