I don't know what you people are on about. I fully support OP's suggestion that ships that bump into other ships get suspect flagged.
*rubs hands together* yes, yes, Jita is really going to burn this time. I know violence isn't the answer. I got it wrong on purpose. |

In addition to the ability to issue bounties vie the forums, we need a dislike button with benefits.
It should work like this: If you post something on the forums and your post attracts a certain number of dislikes, every character on your account should get a 24 hours suspect flag. That would be totally awesome, it would be a major boost to eve's economy since more ships would explode and te meta game could rise to an entirely new level. Win on all sides for everyone.
And, in conjunction with that, how about a suspect flag for talking smack in local? Yeah, I think that sounds awesome.
CCP should implement a textfilter that applies a suspect flag to you every time you write bad words in local chat.
Oh yeah, my head is full of awesome sauce today. Stupidity should be a bannable offense.

I support the deletion of bumping as a legitimate game mechanic and the introduction of collisions with damage.

Bobby Frutt wrote:In it's current form, bumping can be used as a means of keeping people unaligned and thus disallowing them to warp.
The problem with this is it breaks game balance. Activating a warp scrambler or disruptor on a random target in hi-sec will illicit a CONCORD response. Keep in mind, the only purpose of a warp scrambler/disruptor module is to prevent a ship from warping away. Now we ask ourselves: Why does it illicit a CONCORD response? If the only purpose is the prevent a ship from warping away, the only answer is that it illicits a CONCORD response because you attempted to prevent their ship from warping away.
Why then should the same reasoning not apply to bumping? Bumping someone as they try to warp away at a gate has the exact same affect as a module that is considered criminal; should the bumping not be considered criminal too? The problem with that is everyone and their mother would end up being a criminal. The entire Jita undock would just be criminals!
My proposed solution is simple: You should have to be a suspect, criminal or engaged in combat to bump other ships in hi-sec. Add a feature where you can simply turn yourself suspect with the click of a button. Now that you are suspect, you can try and bump that freighter out of alignment! The difference is, people can now shoot you at least. That's balanced. That's fair.
"There needs to be a few exceptions..." Absolutely. Bumping in wardecs, FW targets and between corp members should still work as it does now. Once in a fleet all members should as well collide with one another. The whole point here is to balance the mechanics of bumping with the increased security that comes with hi-sec.
The downside to this is that places like Jita undock will look ridiculous, with ships passing through eachother all the time. I would say that is a small price to pay for fixing the current bumping mechanics.
You have all misread. He did not say that bumping should give a criminal timer. He said you should be a criminal to be able to bump. So technically Jita would be fine since only current criminals would be able to bump other players while non-criminals would simply faze through other ships much like they do on certain occasions.
Good job guys, way to jump to conclusion's instead of fully understanding (or trying to) the OP's post

Even if suspect timers did not activate if you bumped on station, the whole premise for your proposal would never work. The only other situation where you clearly want suspect timers to go into effect is either gates or belts. This would be one of the easiest things to exploit and kill freighters and miners. All you would have to do is station your ship at 10km from the gate from a station (say in jita from 4-4) and then you warp to new caldari gate at 10, it wont effect all ships as most warp to 0 and so wouldnt come near you. But if a freighter wanted to go to a system past New caldari gate, as was lazy they would use autopilot which would warp him at 15 from the gate and then approach the gate, all you would have to do to be able to gank that freighter without even being concord, would be to position yourself between the freighter and the gate, and watch him "Bump" you and then he gets a suspect timer, you kill him, and then another petition is sent to CCP. Aka there is no way this would work Solution - Stop flying your freighter with 20 bill isk in it and during a war dec |

And if CCP fucks up the code half of Jita goes up in flames? Could be a new live event: CONCORD massacring everyone.
Also you want our ships to ghost through each other, are you insane? What if two ships gets stuck into each other by a bug after engaging? Your idea has so much potential for **** ups, you won't even have to drag up the whole destroys-immersion-reason to see how bad this would be. No thanks.

How about once someone hits a button to activate warp the module kicks in and makes all ships super massive. This would make the effect of a bump negligible to the person targeted from a bump and rather large for the person doing the bump. A large group of people repeated bumping someone in rapid succession might still be able to keep someone from warping this way, but it wouldn't be easy. This mechanic would be in line with how micro-warp drives add mass to ships when activated. Given how much more intense the effect is of the full ship warp drive is in terms of speed this would seem to fit with lore/established Eve universe physics. |
