"This week in EVE" is a weekly overview of EVE Online related news and events and shows what is going on in EVE Online. The focus of this overview is on official news from CCP: For example, dev blogs and important forum posts by CCP developers, the ever evolving background story and upcoming events. The summary of the previous week 1/2014 can be found here. Available is also the overview 2014
The current "This week in EVE" gives on overview of the week 2/2014 from January 4th to 10th
Dev blogs and official information
Devposts on the forum and news
- New Eden Open II signup page live!
The signup page for the New Eden Open II, the $25,000 cash tournament to be held early March 2014, is live now and open! Head over to the signup page and register your team!
- Why CCP is still using Python 2
Some interesting background information and insight why CCP is still using Python 2 GÇô even after Python 3 was released several years ago - is shared by Robert Galanakis, Technical Director, in an interesting explanation on his private blog.
- Use of Marauders in the first 6 weeks after Rubicon
Thankfully CCP Fozzie came up with interesting statistics regarding the use of Marauders in the first six weeks after Rubicon: 159,640,990 (after resists are applied) points of damage were dished out in PVP, placing each of the four Marauders firmly in the middle of the pack when compared to faction and pirate battleships. Also 12% more highsec Incursion dungeons have been completed per day since Rubicon compared to the 12 weeks before Rubicon.
- Command ships based on T2 destroyers?
While CCP Fozzie confirms that the idea of having command ship functionality available with new T2 destroyers has some merits, a closer investigation of this idea to if it is indeed viable has to wait until the next big iteration on warfare link mechanics. Please don't get the hopes too high for any quick implementation of this idea!
- Who is the "Worried CONCORD Guy" we have seen now several times in the trailers?
One intriguing question the community has asked revolves around the CONCORD press officer shown now in several trailers here and here. As CCP Falcon confirms, this person is a spokesman for the Directive Enforcement Department (DED) and not Odo Korachi. In fact, CCP Falcon elaborates that sometimes the message is more important than the person delivering the message!

Special announcement - Weekly summaries as email newsletter? We are considering sending the "This Week in EVE" also via email as newsletter. You would be able to subscribe to this newsletter and then every week you would receive the weekly summary delivered to you. At this moment we are figuring out if there is a demand for such an email delivery service.
If you are interested in receiving the weekly summaries via email, please subscribe here: Signup to EVEWeekly
If we see that enough people are interested in this service, we will go ahead and implement the email delivery. If we see that the demand is too low to justify the additional workload, we will not proceed with this idea. It is up to you! CCP Phantom - Senior Community Representative - Volunteer Manager |

Could we get it as an EVEMail as opposed to OOG Mail? |

An interesting idea! I will investigate the options available and see how much extra work would be involved. Sadly the hours spent working on something are gone and cannot be used to work on something else - so either the additional workload needs to low or the gains need to be high. Could be an ISD's job to copy the post (with links) and just send it on to a mailing list as said above?
Weekly Anoikis Telegram Service? "WATS happening?" ... just kidding of course

The link provided for Dr EyjoG's Fast Company interview took me instead to a fascinating profile of Ricky Gervais.
However, a brief google search later and:
http://www.fastcompany.com/3024392/meet-the-alan-greenspan-of-virtual-currency-in-eve-online
got me to the proper article.
