Tactical shield manipulation.
Skill at preventing damage from penetrating the shield, including the use of shield hardeners and other advanced shield modules. Reduces the chance of damage penetrating the shield when it falls below 25% by 5% per skill level, with 0% chance at level 5.
So then, will we get a skill for armour? Its kinda boring to have to repair hull because of evil blood raider lasers.

Edited by: VaderDSL on 21/03/2006 20:36:43 It doesn't work for me , I have it at level 5 and always start taking small amounts of armour damage at 23% shields.
I've tested it again and again and it always comes out the same, 24% no damage to my armour, 23% and I take about 10 hit points of damage on my armour.
But I agree, there should probably be a skill for armour - seems there are a lot more shield skills than armour skills

It's not like this skill is that usefull anyway (imo)

Can anyone else confirm this skill is broken? I was under the impression it allowed your shields, with higher levels, to sustain a little more damage per shield unit than otherwise.

I dont think its about damage at all. Its about damage penetrating your shields. Meaning even though you have shield left, your armour will be hit.

Unfortunatly, I can't say this is broken as it works for me pefectly. I even tested it upon readng this thread. I found a triple Usurper spawn and let it takeme to 4% shield, no damage leach to armour. I currently have this skill maxed.

See this is where it gets odd, I have it at level 5 and find that at 23% I start taking armour damage, as previously mentioned.

everyone who has this skill needs to petition . The wording is shady as it is described and it does not work as stated. Tested on several ships and several setups and damage still bleeds through. I thought it sounded a little to good to be true. Im still waiting on a reply CCP.

The bonus is mutiplicative for Tactical Shield Manipulation. And as for damage leaking through armor to the hull, it only happens when your armor is severely damaged and for all intents and purposes are ****** anyway.

Does this skill require the use of a mod to work? Or does its bonus apply to the shield directly?

It does allow you to use certain mods (Shield hardeners, for instance).
But no, no mods are needed to activate it. Actually it should work in a bare ship just as well...

Level 4 of it is a pre-req for Tech 2 Shield hardeners, which are very much so worthwhile. // Colonel O'Neill |
