What would you change?
From my back of a napkin list I would:
Eliminate instajump/dock bookmarks completely.
Change closest warp in range to 7.5 kilometers, ending randomly around the target point at that range.
Make all ships in Eve twice as responsive to control inputs (reduce mass/inertia) allowing for more interesting and fast paced combat and reducing target approach times and travel times.
Double the range on all warp disruptors and or scramblers.
Introduce a longer ranged, lower effect webbifier. Nerf normal webs signficantly in their effect.
Make warp core stabilizers harder to fit into combat fittings.... somehow.
Make basic insurance 0% payout.
Make insurance rates increase if the applicant has a history of frequent claims (pvpers), and decrease if they have a history of no claims (miners in empire).
Seed T2 bpos into the npc market at very high prices (demand responsive market ftw).
Allow for war declarations against individuals within npc corps. Moving subsequently to a player corp or alliance extends the war to that entity.
Institute higher market taxes within high sec empire. Have minimal market taxes within low sec empire. Have no market taxes within unclaimed 0.0 space. Allow alliances with sovereignty over a portion of 0.0 to add market taxes in their systems.
Change escrow fees to 1.5% (minus skill bonuses) of the asking price on the item being escrowed.
Double the copy time on blueprints. Change the color of blueprint copies to something other than that of blueprint originals.
Introduce POS style structures that can continually produce wealth of some sort (minerals?) at a very modest rate, but are only allowed in 0.0, are fairly easy to kill (500k hp?), and require no fuel or other maintenence (solar powered!).
Cut the scan time on scan probes by a huge factor like 10x, simultaneously making them properly find things within their spherical range, and requiring only 2 probes(instead of 3) within range of a target to find it. Real world triangulation is the use of two points with known angles and distances between them to find a third, like estimating the distance to a star or galaxy from earth.
Move level 4 kill missions entirely out of high sec empire... how did those 10,000 serpentis BS get past concord again?
Completely eliminate the drops of basic or standard tech1 modules from npcs.
There are many more changes I can't recall this moment...

OMG where to start.
1.) Stop developement on all patches until I get "minor" bugs that annoy the hell out of players fixed aka things like one retarded drone taking 2 hours to get back to drone bay.
2.) Revamp the war-declare system so that each npc sovereignty will review the declaration and let you know if they will allow it in their space, Depending on different things like Corp standings of each corp involved.
3.) Make it so 1 or 2 t2 bpos for every item can be found in different wreackages across space, making it so people have to really explore all parts of space and scan to hopefully find a "suspecious object" that needs investigating. Might be a massive NPC ambush that goes along with that tho .
4.) Add a escrow tab to market where named items can be sold like the regular stuff.
5.) Give everyone a reason to get capital combat ships giving players some PvE reasons to own a dread titan, etc...

and i add:
- create player police missions. Playerteams get the mission to attack low sec camps.
- shipwrecks that can be towed away. I read DEVs want to code it!!!
- balance sentry guns in a way that offers also small ships like ceptors to operate in low sec. This limitation to battleships (sniping) sucks!
- fix bountys! Bountys on the ship! Pirate hunters really need some love! Bountys should rise automatically with each kill, payed by concord! The maximum should be the worth of the ship worth. No insurance for pirates so they cannot exploit and kill their own ship to get the bounty!
- No insurance for aliances! They created their own empire somewhere else, why should Concord pay strangers ships? Insurance for n00bs ok.
- Jobs for storywriters. They should get payed ISK for storys that get published!
- Jobs for explorers. There must be unexplored space to give those people fun that like to explore new areas.
- Tolling features, often proposed: strike colors button. Needed to have time to ransom people.
- Capture pod. Pod gets scooped and the person is now prisoner. He has a luck-based chance to escape or can pay a ransom.
- Boarding modules (assault shuttle bays) with crewmembers. Offer the option to board an enemy ship. Crews needed on ships including officiers that can be hired and give bonuses in melee-combat in the ship. Small arms, yeah lazor guns for my crew! Defensive modules that allow good defence against a boarding team: crewmember rooms or something like this.
Ok, i stop dreaming and go back sniping...

I would do that, But i'd specifically put a ROOK BPO a Nighthawk BPO, a harpy BPO and every cool t2 ammo BPO.
I would also cap the amount of players and get rid of the 14 day trial thing. I would also complete all my skills to lvl 5.
Devs, Check your mail in the next few days, I sent you a couple hundred dollars U.S so when you get it go ahead and do all that for me ;)

Dev for a day?
I'd have one of my lackeys move this thread over to the Features and Ideas Discussion forum. Then I'd kick back with my fellow Devs and discuss all of the ideas in this thread (and others) while downing a tasty beverage (mmmm beer)...or two...or three...
Then we'd sit around and try to look at each idea objectively, taking into account all of the various viewpoints from different playstyles - not looking to favor one over the other.
Then we'd consume even more tasty beverages.
After whittling down the list, we'd then discuss which were feasible to code and implement within the given framework of the game (of course taking into account long-term goals and direction).
More tasty beverages.
Once the entire list is broken down, and had our finished product of a few things to put into development - we'd order a final round or two or three.
We would then wake up the next day with the mother of all hangovers, having completely forgotten everything that was discussed the evening before. Sadly, the scribbled notes on the wipeboard would be smudged (probably by someone who thought, in a drunken haze, that it would be cool to get their buttprint smudged on the board).
Noone would remember anything other than, "Damn, we need to do whatever that was more often. Bring more beer too!" -----

I would order TomB to turn every zone 0.0 and give every person one free HAC of choice.
Then I would remove bookmarks and gaggle like maniac while Oveur would be massaging my feets.

Edited by: Lifewire on 22/03/2006 10:57:01 some more:
- i would add player owned jailsstations where pirates can be hauled to - lol. since i allready proposed that it should be possible to scoop pods, we would also need jail stations that work pretty much like a stationary carrier. The prisoners dont get a fighter, they get a mining barge and have to mine ore for the time they are prisoners. As said before there should be a luck based chance to escape, for example 0,5% per hour online gaming. If a prisoner accepts the work his chances to flee should rise to 2% since he often is in the hangars and his "chances to grab a shuttle" an to flee are better. Pretty much like real jail. Lol - as pirate i really would love to see jails where i sit in with other rats that were captured.
- pirate ransom station. Pirate should be able to scoop miners or traders pod too and should have the counterpart: the pirate ransom station where the prisoners are kept hostage until a ransom was payed or they manage to flee. I know that most of you will think: what? come online and be in jail 3 days????? No thanks!!! But have a look on it: it¦s roleplay and prevents podding! I think it would be pretty funny even if jailed for a week.

You know, if you move you BS's closer to the gate you could actually do the scrambling yourself.
What's that? Too risky?

Realise I don't speak Icelandic and say 'oh crap'.
Then slightly lower Blaster fitting requirements, add more comedy signs and play a game of blindfold darts to see which jump routes are being changed today.
Sample a can of Quafe.
Wonder how long it'll be before the real Devs break through the barricade and chuck e out.
Sneak back and recode undocking from stations so ships don't get stuck on them before they've even finished undocking yet. That one's been irritating me all week.
Run the Gallente Elections Storyline and flip a coin to see who wins it If it lands on it's side it's Autrech.

Which brings me to what I would do if I was lead dev.
I would introduce a replacement for insta-jumps, probably the one I suggested.
I would have warp scrambling and webbing ignored by sentries, but still criminally flag you and attract concord.
I would nerf sniping by splitting dual bonus modules.
I would introduce tactical control tools for FC's, and introduce data-linking modules.
I would kick a content team in to shape ASAP (they ain't bad, they are just too few)
I would rework NPC trade.
I would ensure that new ship types require more diverse build componants, including new minerals.
I would add mobile refine ships, but at a lower yield compared with station.
I would add different content for miners (rather than improving the existing content)
I would add a secure method of administering GTC sales. This would involve the seller adding the code to a website along with the buyers character name, automatically crediting the buyers account. This would help stem the reverse GTC trade (buying gtc for isk and selling the codes on ebay for cash), which is a loophole that needs closing.
I would rework NPC corps, seperating starter corps from the other NPC corps.
I would rework the war dec system.
I would find a more balanced method for recovering security status.
I would link bounties to clone costs (ie, the bigger your bounty the more purchasing a clone to cover your SP would be.)
I would arrange the next fanfest to be in London.
I would ... oh man, I'd take on an assistant, so much to do...
