Hi all,
since XP is running now on Intel Mac's i checkd the Website for it and found in the running software list of MacMini also Eve Online. http://wiki.onmac.net
"EvE online Yes runs fine. mac mini core duo will not work off an HFS+ partition mounted with macdrive6.1(tested by wobble)"
So I wanna know did you (who ever tested it) have any performance Problems runing it or was all fine?
Thanks

It will not run as there are no video card drivers to use in Windows XP on an Intel Mac. No ATI and no Nvidia. I'm eagerly awaiting a native mac port of EVE. But I have a feeling I will be waiting until the end of time.

The intel Mac mini uses the intel GMA950 intergrated graphics, and at the moment is the only video chipset that is working properly on XP on the Mac. There is a strong drive to get the others working but it will be a while.
Dont expect great things as this is still an intergrated VGA solution and at most will be able to run at 1024x768 with any reasonable framerate.

IIRC RMR made some changes that had a side effect of preventing any integrated Intel graphics chipset from playing EVE.

Correct, and the person responsible for this should be shot. Two of my bestest Eve buddies could not play anymore, so ****** off to another MMORPG. And if they are not back when my current time card runs out I am ******* off too.

Even though:
1. No other major MMORPG runs on an Intel graphics card. 2. There's a fix to make it run on an Intel graphics card. 3. A graphics card upgrade costs less than 5 dollars.
If you're not willing to pay 5 dollars to upgrade a piece of junk computer...

I know just after RMR there was a big thread in the Known Issues forum that modified a few game files (by replacing them with older game files, so its not against the EULA) to make it work.
I'm not sure if the fix still works though, now with Blood.

Straneg I run an integrated Intel chipset on my HP DVA1399ea and have no troubles at all running EVE, or any other game for that matter. And no I haven't applied a fix. Strange. -------------------------------------------------

Hmm, its possible the change only impacted older Intel chipsets. There are loads of Intel chipsets and it seems nobody ever knows the difference between them, so its quite possible some still work.

Thats a very sweeping remark. It more specifically ment that the 8xx range of intergrated graphics have problems with RMR.
The 9xx and the GMA900/GMA950 are not affected with this problem. They still suck, but at least it runs Eve.
Screenshot
Dont expect much more than 25fps at 1024x768 and expect it to drop to single figure fps when there is a lot on screen. (Cosmos clouds etc)

I play EVE online on my laptop which is an intel GFX card, and it plays RF-online so intel chips do play EVE. plus it's not even possable to upgrade the GFX card on a laptop.
but I have to say that I only use the laptop when I am away from home.

Yes it is.
Not an laptops with integrated graphics. But if you have an Nvidia or ATI card in your laptop and it's from Alienware or Dell you can upgrade the video.

Yes there are a FEW laptops that have upgradable GFX cards but they cost about teice as much, and hard to get you hands on as well.

I know, thought he was referring to home PCs.
Its sort of unfortunate how many laptops are completely non-upgradable in regards to graphics cards

Actual you can upgrade video cards in any laptop where the manufacturer will sell you a video card for it. Now with the new PCI-E video cards in laptops more of a standard is emerging. However laptops that you can upgrade video in are NOT hard to find and do NOT cost twice as much. I can get one from Dell for under $1500 fully loaded. Used ones for much much cheaper.
