Yeaaaahahahaaa! I'm free! Free!
Ancestors choke I never thought I'd get out of it but I got the best birthday gift I ever could have asked for, a discharge! That means no more saluting a captain that doesn't give two ***** if I live or die, no more long fleet patrol operations on the perimeter, and no more having to tail Octopus Squadron halfway around the universe just to be reassigned!
After years of hating my job as a fire control officer and working my way through the Academy I'm finally able to pursue my own interests! I put a lot on the line going into this capsuleer training program, but it looks like it's finally paid off! Gods, what do I do now? What do you guys do? I mean, I could try contacting my old friend but I think he ran off to be a mercenary or something.
I'm so sorry, I my thoughts are all over the place right now but I honestly have no idea where to go from here.
Oh! I should totally get some augmentations! That'd be sick! Maybe a whole arm! "Today, unyielding, we have walked the way of the warrior. In our hands have our fates been molded."

Congratulations, Cadet Wulver.
Your next step after graduating should be further enlistment within the Naval Militia. But it doesn't sound like that's your thing.
In which case I'd recommend packing your bags, moving to Anoikis, and never looking back.

Good luck, whatever you do. To be completely honest ma'am, that might be my only real option right now until I can build up a decent amount of cash. Besides, the only thing that made the Navy unbearable was the lack of autonomy, which I figure I can solve for now that I have my own ship.
Besides, if I've spent this long blasting targets from orbit I might as well stick to what I'm good at.
Also... Sorry, but you look a bit familiar. Have we met, or?...
Oh! Oh! Right, there was a poster of you the galley of my last ship!

Well, good for you and good for the State.
Along with the income earned I'm sure you won't regret a period of service. There's much to learn beyond Academy classes and the Navy is an honorable choice of career to learn such things first hand. The Protectorate have always been a solid organization, especially if you like a lil autonomy. But there are also many fine, established private corporations affiliated with the State that I'm sure would warmly welcome a new Ensign to their ranks.
Morgan Wulver wrote:Also... Sorry, but you look a bit familiar. Have we met, or?...
Oh! Oh! Right, there was a poster of you the galley of my last ship! No need to appologize Cadet. Flattery will get you almost anywhere.
Oh. I hope it was a recent one.
Perhaps I can do my part to help encourage you to enlist for State service then. If you decide to do so I'll have you sent a new one, personally signed, just for you.
Fly safe Cadet. Or deadly, free, fun and easy as applicable.

Well in that case Dusette-haani, it would be my honor and civic duty to serve the State once again. Once I get all my resources in order I'll sign in at the nearest recruiting office... Again.
Thanks for the direction, I probably would have flown right into a pirate den if you hadn't just convinced me otherwise.

He's a major player in the True Slave Foundations, which is essentially a Sansha's Nation front. They essentially believe in ripping out pieces of your soul and personality that they don't like with cranial augmentation until they have a pliant slave left.
So now if you go to see him, you can wittingly join a cult. "What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?"

Ah, fantastic! Now I can make the levelheaded and well informed choice to stay away from the man at all costs.
I've never met anyone from Sansha's Nation and I'd really rather keep it that way. Thanks for the warning sir. "Today, unyielding, we have walked the way of the warrior. In our hands have our fates been molded."

I'd like to commend the Reverend for his concise appraisal. Furthermore, I'd like to note that it is equally applicable to his society, just replace cybernetics with moon speak and invisible men who tell you what to do through geriatric enforcers.
I strongly advise you at least drop Tiberious a line to learn more, before taking the word of a blinkered god botherer as to how you should be spending your immortality. Morgan Wulver wrote:I should totally get some augmentations!
This is a great idea and now that you're free of State service, you have complete freedom over your own body and what you put in it!
Y'know, one way of augmenting your piloting abilities is through the use of combat boosters; these are psychotropic substances that are injected through your capsule sockets directly into your cortex, giving you an immediate performance boost to a specific ability. They are very much like a temporary hard-wiring.
As a Caldari pilot, I'd imagine that you might already have a focus on using shields. If so, take a look at the Blue Pill booster, which'll help you get better control of your shield-booster modules (including ASB's) and squeeze more out of them. It also induces a sensual euphoria and male capsuleers experience a delightful side-effect... I'll let you find that out for yourself
Speaking of which... do you want more precision in your missile's explosions? Then have a look at the Crash booster! It's a powerful stimulant that'll quicken your reflexes, enabling you to plot trajectories in split-seconds and hit the enemy that little bit harder. You might find yourself gurning a bit, but you have a good dentist, right?
There are several other types of combat booster which I could tell you about if you're interested.
Incidentally, Katanga Caravan specializes in the production and sale of these wonder-drugs. We have a stringent quality control process to ensure that our customers do not experience the harmful side-effects that may occur with other manufacturer's products. I personally offer consultation and delivery services, so please don't hesitate to get in touch!
Best of luck in your endeavors, Pilot Wulver - fly dangerous and ignore the CONCORD billboards!

This is a bit embarrassing.
I've been discharged from the Protectorate. I failed my first assignment, which wouldn't have been a problem if...
The Protectorate knew I didn't have the funds or tech for the mission they assigned me and they sent me out there anyway. They should have expected that I wouldn't have been able to take down that convoy. Immediately after I ran into a bit of money by selling a deck of my old Alliance Tournament cards.
This wouldn't have been an issue if I hadn't posted them all over Gal-Net while I was still exiting Placid. I had noble intentions in selling those so I could have the funds to never fail a mission like that again, and now the Protectorate thinks that those cards were somehow payment for throwing my assignment. Then once I show up in a newly fitted destroyer they start putting me under investigation for espionage.
They don't have any evidence so they can't lower my standing substantially, but some administrative bastard listed me as -.0001 in their system. Just one fraction of a point too low to keep fighting in the Milita. Then they have the audacity to reassign me to Deep Core Mining. Mining!
Well, we see how well working for the Milita went. Maybe now I'll start looking into some of the other corporations that have been nice enough to post here. The State didn't impound the ship I bought, so I have a brand new Corax, a bay full of missiles, and no where to go.
Or rather, no where that doesn't involve mining asteroids in deep space and being lost to history. "Today, unyielding, we have walked the way of the warrior. In our hands have our fates been molded."

You've been given a very light tap on the wrists and a warning that you're not currently fit to be in company with others who serve the State Protectorate. It would take a very little work to overcome this slight stain on your record, believe me, and a short period of solid work would mean that such trifling indiscretions would no longer put your standing in jeopardy.

Don't underestimate the combat that can come with commercial endeavors, either. I call myself an industrialist more than a combat pilot, but I spend more time fleeted up and responding to hostile action than I do tinkering with the labs, component arrays and shipyards. Oh, absolutely. I was not insinuating that combat is necessarily avoidable - merely that some can live just as fulfilling lives without combat as their impetus. Quality is never an accident. |
