Technically you have a pilot eye view already. Read the backstory.

The Camera Drones story in the EVE Chronicles section explains why pod-pilots see things the way we do.

I think more precise is Drone cameras
While I think that's a fair explanation, I would still like to have "a pilots point of view". If for nothing else than to realize the size of things. For a month or two it felt that even the battleships were not much bigger than a car...

You don't get a feeling of size untill you put ships right up beside each other. Then you see how tiny that frig is against your battleship.

you'd need a camera mounted on your hull. The backstory says they tried that and they got damaged too easilly so they instead deployed them as drones.
Technically, a real pilot eye view would be black. You're in an escape pod full of goo.

Originally by: Omg link Although the camera drone serves as the main visual tool of the captain cameras have been used in more ways. Some missiles sport a camera in their nose, allowing the captain to see directly where the missile lands. The Gallenteans also often use special camera-fitted scout drones, which they send far in front of them as reconnaissance.
Do these really exist in game?

ya but come on. ok we got fancy camera drones, but back in reality, it would be nice to just have a shortcut that ucan apply to view the "presummed" pilot view of the ship to our "eyes".
whoopy do, just cos our pilots cant see out, dont meen to say we can have an awesome view of our ships. lol. would be awesome in video creation and massive battles too.

No they wouldn't, during fleet combat you align so that that you can warp out as quickly as possiable, therefore all the fighting would be going on behind your ship, not in front.
you'd also seriously limit your visibility, which would be a bit stupid in a game like EVE which has such high losses if your being stupid.

Ever played Wing Commander? A first person view with an active close/medium range radar of some sorts would suffice and feel much more realistic. Although I like it the way it is, a "cockpit view" would be absolutely awesome, especially with joystick support.

Joystick wouldn't be that interesting imho - theres a very large delay (compared to say, stick movements) on any navigation action. --- Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail. - Emerson |

stick support would be quite fun in a frigate, if all frigates had a chance against eachother. pull an inverted loop in a Condor, drop in beind the harpy, get tone and go hot with bloodclaws and follow up with some love from the 125mm cannon.....
