Run the logserver and upload the log to bugs.eve-online.com when it happens.

This is by desing, so you just have suck it up and live with it.
To make drones attack only the targets you want requires you to lock the target and then issue the command engage target. If you run out of targets and do not want the drones to attack some others, recall the drones with "return and orbit" command (after which they wont attack anything unless you say so).
Good way is to launch drones, return and orbit, lock, shoot, wait argo, engage.

Right now, drones will attack any target that is "legal", including corp mates in your gang, and anyone, corp or not, in 0.0
Use drones long enough, and you'll see it happen. ---

Edited by: Empyre on 23/03/2006 18:43:41 you can make them behave by being in a gang. don't want others in your gang? no problem. gang request someone and tell them to reject the invitation. you'll be in a 1 person gang and, when you launch your drones, they will orbit you non-agroing. they will then attack when you start attacking and only attack your targets.
they will still pull agro if they get too close to a non-agro group, but its not hard to keep this from happening.
the sucky part is when you recall them to your bay and a random number of them bounce off your hull and then won't come in range nor dock unless you turn around and fly right into them. haven't found a work around for that yet thats reliable. for now i just buy 100 of each drone type at a time. :(
edit: on another note.. not sure if its an exploit or not, but if you agro a bunch of mobs, then fly away and leave your drones.. if you've trained up their durability skills, when you return everything will be agro'd on the drones that are sitting idle. you can then pick off several NPCs while they are distracted with them.
i only use this unintentionally if I have to warp out and they are still there when I get back.. ----- my playstyle is anti-pirate. what does this mean? it means you'll never catch me in a valuable ship and/or setup where it can be compromised. go on, trade your ammo for the scraps you'll get. |

its called choosing a target. as soon as a target dies, they will run off to attack other things, its up to you to direct them.
unless you cant handle that.
-I don't necessarily agree with everything I say.-

the point is, the drones will attack whichever target they see fit if you are not ganged. this is not cool in missions where they can agro groups of mobs 30-40km away (or more depending on drone skills) by firing a single shot, regardless if it hits the NPC or not. i've even had them "do their own thing" when i've commanded them to "engage" a different target several times before they kill their current target.
its workable, no doubt. just seems like a bug. ----- my playstyle is anti-pirate. what does this mean? it means you'll never catch me in a valuable ship and/or setup where it can be compromised. go on, trade your ammo for the scraps you'll get. |

Drones and drone groups should have AI settings really.... let us switch between defensive, aggressive, neutral.
Defensive: they attack anything attacking me in some sort of order (scramblers first, then other targets in some kind of priority). Doesn't attack structures except for aggressing turrets.
Aggressive: attack anything aggressive within your drone's range of operation, including structures.
Neutral: fly around your ship until ordered by you to attack something. If something takes a shot at you or them when they are not attacking something, they will go after that thing.
Just some initial thoughts.

As a male who plays a female in an online game but also has relationships with females in real life, I agree with my friend Blinky. -

I have also had trouble with my drones locking friends while ratting, and then firing on them. I've also had friends drones locking me.

the funny thing is when you shoot one of your own drones, your other drones go after the drone you shot... very comical
