I don't mind being killed it's part of the game, so is pod killing. But what does **** me off is when I'm at the god damned stargate and it says it's jumping then I blow up 10 seconds later. Now I'm in my pod still trying to jump the damned stargate and again I hear 3X !!!!!!!!! the jumping msg, then I die. 3x !!!! How damn long does it take to jump? Apparently pods aren't allowed to jump when they're targetted, that's the only conclusion I can come up with.
I was also under the impression that when a ship blows up the pod has to be targetted as a new object. This is obviously wrong as I continued taking damage within a second of my ship blowing up.
You're programming sucks, you never respond to petitions or complaints on these forums, you hide known problems and pretend they don't exist.
No god damned way you're seeing anymore of my money, because I'm not getting any support for what I pay.

Is there something the admins can do to help compensate for this sort of erroneous loss? I would hope so.. I hear complaints of this problem quite a bit

Very good; IMHO any society benefits when it gets rid of members who can't control their rage (or emotions/self/etc).
Then again I sometimes wonder if I play different game; during 18 months I've not run in to any critical bug. I've seen quite a few, but all of them been something I've been able to adapt to; change my behaviour to avoid any high risk actions.
So some options that come to my mind.
1) It is indeed known bug that CCP have yet to manage fix. In such cases they've had tendency to reimburse lost ships/items, but you need patience.
2) Might have been client-server sync/lag. That is, server knew you were killed and maimed before you even started the jump, but your client didn't know (your pod being insta damage kinda supports this theory). Thus client gave you false hope of surviving, and kept giving jumping messages -> minor bug, nothing to reimburse.
3) There were travel advisories relating to the system (that is, CCP telling us the system is buggy, don't go there).
Or in summary: cool down for a day if needed, make a petition with all the details and have some patience. Or, pick some a bit more fast paced game.
Hope you stay true to your word.

i thought the minimum age for EVE was 13 ?
ok Mr Angry here are what your problem's source could be
1. yes it could be a bug 2. your ISP(they have glitches) 3. your OS(they have glitches) 4. your hardware 5. server lag 6. 3 peruvian badger juggling midget andean indians getting their badgers mixed up hence causing the butterfly effect in your vicinity

when you ship is destroyed you cannot jump/dock for 30 seconds, you best bet is to warp out as soon as you ship pops. ------------------------ Atomic Battle Penguins - Mercs for hire |

Wow amazing, you guys should all do tech support for Micro$oft with those answers - nope not our problem must be on your end.
Nothing wrong with my connection, if there was I'm sure I would have noticed in the 3+ hours I'd already been on. Never mind my other pc probably would have lost the connection too.
Nothing wrong with my PC - the boss pays for upgrades at least once a year and what he doesn't pay for I write off on my taxes. No part of my pc is older than 8 or 9 months.
So what you're all saying is 30 second lag is common in the game so if I get gate ganked I might as well just walk away from the pc as I don't actually have control over my ship. I see, very nice to know that only some people are allowed full control of their ships in the game.
1st time it said I was jumping I had full armor and half shields, next time 2/3 armor. Next time about 0 armor just getting into the hull, and last time was in the pod. All 4x it said I was jumping I was less than 1500 metres from the gate, so no reason for it not to jump me. I was going from 0.3 space to 0.4 space, so I highly doubt it's a high traffic area, it certainly wasn't the 5 minutes before when I'd just come thru the other way.
Ahh yes, and I'm probably older than most of you, and have a full time job thanks, and my account is almost 4 months old - so all the idiots can shut up and go away now. My time is vauable to me and I hate wasting it on crap. I've played other MMO's and I like Eve - Wow sux and Eq went in the toilet a long time ago. The problem is I come on these forums every day and I'm one of hundreds of people complaining about ongoing bugs that never get fixed, and zero support from devs.
Another reason I'm venting in the forums - I went to the "Eve Support" link and guess, what no where to petition about my problem. I'm sure it's there if you dig around, but if they wanted to supply real customer support they'd have a big old button that says "Petition" that's easy to find. My apologies if I sounded upset, but I damned well was, and even more so when I come on here and can't find a way to complain to the devs other than the forums. I shouldn't need to waste time looking for a way to contact them, it shouldn't take more than 2 or 3 mouse clicks to get to a petition option.
Much the same way as if you look thru the entire website, you'll probably only find 30-40% of the server crashes and outages have actually been ackowledged. The home page is all about patting themselves on the back but if you want the server status or updates on ongoing problems, better have time for a fishing expedition because they don't like to talk about problems with the game.

Your that guy at work who hits the print button 40 damn times think that will make it work right?
Well guess what... if you tried it once and it gave you the message.. then sit tight and ride the lag wave, otherwise your just gonna cause more harm.
For the record this happens alot, best solution is if you get the message wait 1 min then hit it agian.. if your getting ganked and can't wait warp out, if you can't warp then just wait til it jumps you and try it again once your in hull.
Lastly if it wouldn't let your ship jump.. why did you try with your pod? Just warp out as soon as your ship dies trying to jump after a session change like exiting a ship is just a bad idea anyways www.AegisMilitia.com For God, Empire, and Sarum! |

Nope I hit the buttom once and then look for problems if it doesn't work. I've done tech support and played lots of other MMO's so I'm well aware that button mashing is a waste of time.
I was on auto pilot at the time to the gate, so I wasn't requesting the jump manually, the auto pilot was in charge of the jump. The only thing I did was turn on some defences and fire back - not that my little cruiser is going to do anything to a BS but can't hurt to try. I never altered my course and I still had 2 more systems to go, so the auto pilot should haev jumped me. In fact it said it was going to.... 4x. By the 2nd time I already knew I was dead, nothing I can do when I'm touching the gate and it won't jump and my ship is being cored. I just sat back and watched myself die due to poor programming.
Btw, if as some people have said they're posting lists of systems that have trouble accing them, then I think any player camping to a gate that he knows people can't get to should be punished. I mean heck if they're gonna punish people for using drones because they screwed up the programming on them, shouldn't they punish people for exploiting problems within regions?

Losses can be annoying and frustrating. Especially when you cant do anything about them at the time.
In eve support is a big "Ask a question" - Thats the petition. And its there that you will find a heading for "Re Inbursments". ( Apologies for spelling but fingers are numb from button mashing :)
If you feel you want to leave then that is your choice good luck to you. However calling XYZ out on the forums wont really get you the response you are looking for.
Good luck in your petition should you decide to go that route.

I appreciate the words Al Thorr. However, I was actually just in that section trying to send them my problem just to give them a fair chance to repsond - too bad it won't let without creating a new account.
I enter all the info and submit it, it goes to another screen and tells me I have to create a new account.
I'm using all my existing account info so no idea what the problem is, but just one more way they don't make it easy to get support. No doubt once I fill everything out it's going to tell me the information is a duplicate.

By your initial rant , I would suggest the following..
1.put the games away and seek some anger management 2.go outside and look at the yellow ball in the sky and get some sun..They say sunlight is good for you. 3.get a mate to relieve some stress, of save you $15 per month for an anual visit to a working girl. 4.IT IS JUST A GAME AND YOU WOULD GET BETTER RESPONSE FROM PEOPLE IF YOU WERE TO ADRESS THE ISSUE INA CIVIL MANNER INSTEAD OF LIKE A CHILD. 5.And a little known fact, you may be a paying customer but CCP has no legal obligation to take your money and continue your mebership.

Edited by: Bruticus Prime on 24/03/2006 00:41:51 No interest in acting mature about it consideirng when you look thru here there's other threads with much larger problems that are 5 or more pages in length and have never gotten a response from Eve.
They don't respond to people here often if at all, and they likely won't like my thread so it'll just be deleted.
Not worried about them taking my money or closing my account. My account expires around the end of the month so they won't be getting any more anyhow as I'm certainly not renewing my subscription.
I know that they won't be able to see any problem if they look at my account, because as stated before after I submit the problem it forces me to create a new account. So even if they look at the petition they'll be looking at the wrong account. Don't know why that is, but I'm not real suprised.
No you can't have my stuff
PS - just so everyone can share in the laugh when it made me create a new account I put in Idiots as the name so the auto replay comes back to me as Hello Idiots burned myself on that one, but at this point I can laugh about it since I don't havea ship to play with so I might as well hang out on here til they ban me or my account expires.

Uh, sir.. hate to break this to you but it was not lag or a bug.
You returned fire at a gate. You cannot jump while fighting through a gate. There is a one minute timer on that. This was put in a long time ago to stop people from abusing jumps as an exploit. If you had not fired back.... you would have jumped and would not have had your ship blown up. This is a known game mechanic - unfortunately you didn't.
As for your pod: After your ship blew unless you immediately told the pod to jump manually on gate and just hit the autopilot you died. Reason is: with mods now people with the right setup almost have instalock on targets.
Sorry you lost your ship and your pod. At least you now know that if you want to jump through a gate not to be in combat at or near it.

Well apologies where they're due. I'd like to sincerely apologize to all the players and employees I upset or offended as it seems I was killed by nothing other than my own ignorance. No one to blame but me.
Thank you to Krollji for that information. I don't feel any better knowing that I killed myself due to ignorance, but at least I know its not a game failure. It was a rule I wasn't aware of and I learned it the hard way - such is the school of hard knocks.
Again I apologize for the trouble I've caused. Flames and pointing and laughing happily accepted

Na, I don't think anyone here said anything much wrong other than myself. I screwed up, vented like an idiot, and then found out that the only person responsible for my death is myself.
I deserve everything I got for being a hothead.
You are right though, it is by far one the best MMO I've played.
Again, my apologies where they are due.

Edited by: Emperor D''Hoffryn on 24/03/2006 21:45:40 While you did vent a little quick, it does prove a point.
There are alot of little rules in EVE that are hard to learn. Tutorial doesnt teach them, theres really no instruction manual. Sure other players know, but how would you know to ask? Some rules you only learn by mistake, and sorry to say you really learned this one.
Plus the message box that pops up is overloaded with info, you probably didnt have time to actual read it, you just saw it was black with white text, so thus looked like the usual jumping dialog. if it was seperate and more static, you might have seen the "Due to you recent aggressions, you can't jump" message, and while you still might have died, at least you would have known why.
P.S. You can edit the topic title, so it reflects your apology, if you want.

the reason why u couldnt jump was because u agressed back ie shot back at the person attacking you, u prob got a message saying jump request denied due to ur reasont acts of aggression, guess u missed it, best thing to do if ur close enough to the gate is not to shoot back.
hope this helps -------------------------------------------------- DarkSide Inc
