Hi Everyone,
I just started this game and only have around 10 hours i think of game time. I've destoryed 2 ships of mine and my capsule got me to safety. There was cargo left behind in the ship and I would like to know if i can retrieve it.
Is there some way I can navigate back to my ship destruction location to recover my cargo? It's been really bugging me. I've gone into my losses for combat logs, but it doesn't give me a location.
Any help on this I'd would be grateful,
Thanks |

Welcome to Eve.
If this pertains to the Tutorial, Career Agent missions or the Level 1 Sisters Of Eve Epic Arc and your cargo contained a mission specific item, you can file a Support Ticket in-game (F12 key) and the GM will usually fix the problem.
As for actually getting back to wrecks it depends on where the ship was destroyed. It's easy to recover the cargo if the wreck is at any of the various Celestial objects showing on the Overview such as Stations, Planets, etc. Just have to warp back there.
Now for any other area such as Mission or Exploration locations, the best thing to do is bookmark the area by right clicking on a nearby object (Debris, Beacon, Structure, Wreck) and select 'save location'. Then later when you right click in space, the bookmark will be listed in the drop down menu which can be selected allowing you to warp back there in another ship and retrieve your cargo if needed.
Wrecks and cans will only last in space for up to 2 hours. Best to get back to them within 1 1/2 hours just to be on the safe side. Mission and Exploration locations will stay active until completed or expired naturally.
Good luck to you, hope this helps.

He has more or less said everything, but for the OP. You should know that NPC's will not pod you, so if you loose your ship you can stay in the mission and bookmark your wreck before you warp off.

Please keep in mind that if you "fail" the mission (as in accept it, and then decline it without completing it) you will loose some standing, so consider either asking for help finishing the mission, or go back in a combat ship and complete it and then loot your wreck. Note that this is ONLY true of mission-specific items in those training missions. In 'real' missions, you must deal with the consequences of failure if a mission-critical item is destroyed.
When you lose your ship: - All your rigs are destroyed - About half your modules are destroyed - About half your cargo is destroyed - The rest is left in space at the location of your loss. Any player may loot it. Depending upon the circumstances, there may or may not be consequences for that player.

I just realized I don't know how to bookmark a location. I've seen the tab before but when i tried to find it on my own I couldn't.
Would anyone mind giving me instructions please? I'll keep trying to figure this out.

Open people and places, at the bottom there should be an option that says bookmark location or similar. You will also get the option when you right-click on a wreck or similar in space.
Not in-game at the moment so can't give you exact wording but hopefully it will be enough

Open 'People and places', it should be near the top of the neocom. Click on the places tab. Click 'save location' (button at the bottom), give it a useful name, click OK
You can now access that via the right click menu while in space. |

Okay. OCD is acting up...
Its not that approx half the modules or cargo survives.
Each module and each stack in your inventory has a 50/50 chance of being destroyed or survives. This is a major difference. Want to have some chat in game? Need help to get into the game as a new player? Just join my channel: Crazy Dutch Guy |

Thanks For objects in space such as wrecks, containers, etc you can right-click the item in your overview and click 'Save Location' in the menu. |

Thanks ALOT everyone for the quick replies. I never thought in less than a day I'd get all my answers, better than any customer service I've ever used before.
Really appreciate this. So far, I really really enjoy the game. Nothing like this from any other MMO I've experienced. As soon as I get my own place I plan on joining a group/guild/corporation or whatever you call it here.
It really feels limitless what you can do here, and there's no leveling in the standard sense, just skill leveling :P Only thing close is The Secret World MMO, no levels and just fill a skill wheel. |

I feel I have to clarify why I'm liking this MMO more atm.
I really got my question answered. Not generically, here you go done, no it was a really really complete answer from everyone who contributed here. I asked for a sheet of paper I got an encyclopedia. Honestly really prefer it.
Secondly, no spammers, no stupid talk.... yet.
Everyone I've met has been really helpful so far.
And I just finished almost all the tutorial missions and have around 10 SHIPS! and there's SO MUCH TO DO!!!
I could explore with scanners for anomalies, I could mine and refine, I could manufacture, go more into ship building, or weapons or defense or learn how to pilot another new ship. It's not like other mmos where you can only focus on a few things, you had your "class" and that's it.
I guess here I feel like a "person" and can decide really whatever I want and at a whim's notice decide, you know what I want to upgrade my exploration ability today.
And the best part I think is this positive helpful community I've encountered. Example was around 4 hours in a GM messaged me if I needed help, and I did, so many times, got stuck here, didn't know what I was doing there.
Really really thanks everyone, I do missions wayyy faster now. I just auto piloted before now I know to click the object and hit D to quicker travel ( which I think should be in the tutorial for how to manually travel).
I was looking for help and am still shocked there are "academy's" and "schools" for beginners! I was all over their sites.
Well there's more, but I'm going to finish my last part of the trade mission and I'm off to see new worlds, explore new places, and go where no man has gone before. |

the EVE community is generally on the helpful side. even if someone destroys your ship, he will probably tell you what you did wrong and how you can improve, if only you ask him in a polite manner without raging or whining over the loss.
that said, the tolerance for privilege and stupidity is very low. if you are not able to stay levelheaded and polite, you can expect ridicule and trolling.

I'd say that's more of a crapshoot. You can sometimes find a respectful person who murdered you, but this is not really a guarantee.
EVE's forum community is, naturally, fairly helpful. It's the people who give you advice in-game you might have to be wary of - murder isn't the only hobby of EVE. Scamming people also is. Though at least most scammers are fairly obvious. |

I could have sworn I gave that info in my reply.

Guess I only gave half of the info. In my defense that was the correct answer to the OP's initial question anyway.

You can now access that via the right click menu while in space. Of course that's the other info I forgot to include. In my defense I didn't include it since it's mainly used for creating Safe Spots, Insta-Undock Spots, Off-Gate Spots, etc.
Anyway, glad the OP has found a solution.
