Hello fellow capsuleers (It's pretty cool to be able to say that now). So today I began my intrepid journey into New Eden, despite all of my prior research warning me that It'd possibly be easier to become an astrophysicist that begin an Eve career,.
I started the tutorial today I found It to be a rather passive an relaxing experience I enjoyed it :) so thing's are looking up from here hopefully.
I'm really enjoying my Space faring sci-fi at the moment and EVE really is the pinnacle.
Anyway down to the question's, I've heard that joing either Red vs Blue or EVE university is best for noobs? How on earth do I do this?
Finally outside of EVE, any recommendations for good Space Opera fiction, be it Live action TV or Anime? please guy's help me out!
And last but not least does anyone know how to obtain EVE Templar One audiobook in the UK?
Many questions I know!
Any answers would be much appreciated cheers guy's!

eve is a terrible game and nobody should play it.
on a serious note though, eve university is the best for learning fast and efficiently. on the other hand, brave newbies is arguably more fun, as it is still relatively fresh and blue-eyed. and finally, red vs blue are all about pvp. any one is fine, pick whatever fits your play style.
as for other media: it's not exactly a space opera, but ergo proxy is probably the best sci-fi anime i have ever seen.

Look up either Red Federation or Blue Republic in Your People and Places search. do a show info and apply to join the colour you like best. Everyone is accepted.
You might want to read this before joining RvB - http://rvbeve.com/forums/index.php/topic/20-before-joining-rvb/
For Eve Uni, look them up the same way - if you want to apply go to http://eveuni.org/apply and follow the instructions.

You have much to learn, it's not scary because you are unaware of the dangers surrounding you.

Eve is a video game with a set of (mostly) fixed rules. Learn those rules and nothing about it is scary. Learn those rules and you will generally only explode on your own terms and not provide tears for your killers. Learn those rules and you will dominate most of those you face. Carry on intrepid capsuleer and remember this above all other things:
You are immortal. No one can really "kill" you at all. I know violence isn't the answer. I got it wrong on purpose. |

Not anime or audiobooks, but the lore section of EVElopedia boasts some very well written pieces regarding the background of the EVE universe, not least of all the EVE Chronicles themselves. |

I gotta's say cheers for all the fantastic responses, so far guy's I;'m not a massive MMO fan and I think the complexity of EVE or what set's it apart from other games was what drew me to it in the first place, It really is as game like no other!
And well from what I've seen of the community so far has been great!

I've got a few more questions I wouldn't mind getting some answers for if people don't mind?
Is there some way to skip the music tracks in the game?
What is/ how do I apply to join either Eve University or RvB and should I hold of doing so until I've completed the tuitorials?
Cheers guys |

Press escape, go to the audio settings and turn off the music there.

To join a Corp (any Corp) simply link its name, click on the link then press the "Apply to Join" -button at the bottom. Joining RvB is only a matter of someone getting around to accepting your application (usually a few hours to a day max; be sure to join their public channel, "R-v-B" (without the ""), and read the MOTD), but otherwise, usually there will be some sort of screening process ranging from days to weeks.
While Eve University especially caters to new players and thus requires virtually no special Eve Online knowledge, even they like applicants to have done the tutorials. They do, however, REALLY like new members to have a least some familiarity with their rules; last time I checked you will be required to give a written report on them during your interview, seriously.
On the other hand, be aware that while RvB has no such requirement (and very few "rules" at all), it is about blowing stuff up. Thus a new player might find himself thrown into a fundamentally hostile environment (3000 players out for his blood, not counting external wardecs) that he is not ready for. Also, it might be difficult to set up a steady stream of income which is necessary to cover his - inevitable - ship losses. Then again, RvB DOES care about newbie members, you will find helpful people everywhere. Here is a nice "live report" of a month-old new player and his adventures with RvB: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=315016&find=unread Forum-unbanned since 2011.10.20.

hehe (sorry, couldn't resist)
Next best option is having a tablet to run a player. I don't like to needlessly load my gaming system with extra apps running, sucking power, processes and creating more heat etc. But tablets are pretty cheap now, good for music, using eve related apps, reading dotlan or eve-survival without needing to minimize the EVE client.

I don't believe you guy's ;) haha everyone's been pretty decent thus far, even the random guy who I bumped into whilst at a Data site on the scanning tutorial, managed to finally wrap my head around the scanning and hacking today I feel like i've passed some form of exam haha.
still the more depth I learn that there is in EVE I'm not going to lie It's quite scary but I can't help but be impressed.
EVE is the first game I've played where i feel like I'm part of something truly massive ..... for now |

tl;dr for my experience so far (~2.5 months in) is that there's d*cks everywhere but most people are generally pretty cool, especially if you message them when the need arises. Note that this has nothing to do with whether or not they will kill/scam/gank/etc you :)
