Pushed the 0.2.4 update, fixing the issue as I was detecting it. The fix applied was:
- Remove jQuery 2.x requirement, and associated jQueryUI
- Use the non-sandboxed jQuery 1.x as provided by the Eve Forums
All should be well now. Eve Forums Gold! New aesthetics, features, and workarounds to make your forum experience a more enjoyable one!

I really like this script. Very nicely done - it adds a lot of great features to the Eve forums.
I did find one bug in the Greasemonkey script, however. It's in the create_faveadds() function. On my Firefox at least, the second GM_getResourceURL("bookmark_icon") is returning an "undefined" value, which in turn is placing a bunch of image-not-founds in the place of the pin icons on the front page.
Replacing that second GM_getResourceURL("bookmark_icon") with simply "img" fixes it. The resource gets called at the top of the function, no need to fetch it twice.

I've been busy with some RL stuff recently, but I'm not dead yet! I need to do a programming sprint one of these days and do some code reorganization, which should nip in the bud any problems like the last bug EFG ran into. Eve Forums Gold! I am not dead!
I have returned to you with a new version of Eve Forums Gold. This version is not backwards compatible with previous versions due to a major change in the way data is stored. This means you will lose all your EFG data (bookmarks, tags, canned messages, etc). Be prepared to reconstruct it. You can always keep running the legacy version 0.2.4 to access the old stuff, too.
Version 0.3.0 features:
- Complete code V3-ification. EFG's code structure has been changed to be more self-consistent, with less spaghetti code and fewer nasty hacks.
- Graceful sandboxing. Greasemonkey/Tampermonkey run EFG in a special environment for safety. EFG 0.3.0 has proper support for handling this sandboxing.
- Less injected code. The amount of Javascript code injected into the forums page is drastically reduced because of the new sandbox handling. This is a matter of Good Coding PracticesGäó, something all software projects could use more of.
- Different storage system. Instead of using weirdly-implemented "localStorage", EFG 0.3.0 uses the Greasemonkey GM_getValue (and related) functions.
- Better debugging infrastructure. Because bugs suck.
- Added Eve Gate support. "gate.eveonline.com" has been added to the domains supported by EFG. This paves the way for features to enhance Eve Gate (though there are none of those right now).
- Bugfixing. Most of it incidental to the code refactoring.
tl;dr: Version 0.3.0 has a ton of "under the hood" changes with little visible feature change. However, it paves the way for more/better future development, and avoids future code structure problems equivalent to Eve's "no character switching".
Enjoy! Eve Forums Gold! New aesthetics, features, and workarounds to make your forum experience a more enjoyable one!

Let's brainstorm some Eve Gate features. The two pages I use most are the Profile and Mail pages. Here are some things I have in mind:
Profile page
- Make the "Send a message" and "Add a contact" plus other links like that (below the portrait) look standardized no matter if it's your profile or someone else's profile that you're looking at. http://i.imgur.com/vXFyPIt.png
- Add a variety of buttons to that menu, including links to EveWho, a killboard, Eve-search (because "Latest Forum Posts" is half-broken)
- Extend the user tagging feature of EFG to cover peoples' name on their profile page, so you can see your delightful name tag there, too.
Mail page
- Turn the names of people in the mail table into links to their profiles.
That's all I got so far. Let me know if you have anything that you believe needs doing.

Wow, awesome mod. I should've installed it a long time ago.
Just an FYI, the zkb integration can be made simpler too, rather than "search" you can do
https://zkillboard.com/character/squizz+caphinator https://zkillboard.com/corporation/woopatang https://zkillboard.com/alliance/goonswarm+federation https://zkillboard.com/faction/amarr+empire etc.
zkb is smart enough to figure that out and redirect to the proper page.
Keep up the awesome work! Various projects I enjoy putting my time into: http://zkillboard.com | http://evewho.com | http://eve-kill.net | http://evechatter.com | http://skillq.net |

Added the suggestions so far to my sort-of to-do list here: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=4707516#post4707516 . Thanks guys!
Also thanks for the tip, Squizz! Using the search greatly simplifies the URL coding (more copy-paste yay) but I may optimize in the future to save the zKillboard guys a couple processor cycles. Nonetheless, thank you so much for sharing this extremely useful script :) |

Looking good so far, though the width of the forum is not modified to take advantage of the entire RL screen width. The old/original greasemonkey script (still on my work PC's firefox) did this. Any plan for this, or tips for where to make any appropriate modifications?
The 'go to last read' appears to be broken in general on this forum - I believe this was supposed to be the 'star' icon but that's not working either.
Also, I tend to right-click and open links etc in new tabs. Does this break any of the features (since you're modifying via js).
One last one - No-Nom does not work in quick post. Thankfully the forum's Draft feature does (when timed right). "The Meta Game does not stop at the game. Ever."
Currently Retired / Semi-Casual (pending changes to RL concerns).

Unless I've had some major hallucinations, that was never a feature of EFG. Are you thinking of another forum improvement script?
I will consider adding this as a feature. It's not that hard to do, but it will probably have to wait until I finish some sort of toggling/management for what features you actually want to use. For some people (like myself), having a page stretch its text all the way across the screen rather than in a limited box actually has a negative impact upon readability. It's a fascinating topic for web and print designers.
Alain Kinsella wrote:The 'go to last read' appears to be broken in general on this forum - I believe this was supposed to be the 'star' icon but that's not working either. I will scratch that up for my next run of bug-fixing, thanks.
Alain Kinsella wrote:Also, I tend to right-click and open links etc in new tabs. Does this break any of the features (since you're modifying via js). I use a lot of tabs too, and breaking tabbing support would be unfortunate. As of right now everything works tabbed-wise except for the "no external link warning" feature in Greasemonkey (Firefox). Trying to open a new tab with the link still displays a warning and I can't help that. A regular click opens the link in a new tab without a warning, though, and that's the most I can do.
Alain Kinsella wrote:One last one - No-Nom does not work in quick post. Thankfully the forum's Draft feature does (when timed right). Indeed it doesn't. It's not trivial to add it either, because of a difference in page structure, but I can put that on the backlog. No guarantee that it'll get implemented (the number of people who use the quick reply box is quite low AFAIK) but I will keep it in mind. Eve Forums Gold! I can't help the former, but a big feature I want to get to someday is live-updating threads and the forum list itself. Is that what you are referring to?
(There may be some term confusion, since "session" means something very specific in web development and that's what comes to mind for me)

Make a button like the "first dev post" button, that goes to the SEARCH snapin on bottom, and browse dev posts that way. Would be cool to find dev posts from the end of a thread backwards. |

I'm not sure what's changed with the forums but I've noticed that the script (version 0.3.0) doesn't seem to be working for me in Firefox 30.0. I'm not getting any of the features to work. I only noticed this today when I went to post a reply and saw that the 'No-Nom' post option was missing. In addition there are no user links, Post Inspector, etc. I've relaunched both Greasemonkey and Firefox, toggled the script off and on, refreshed the forum pages but still no joy. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated! Thanks. When the world is running down, you make the best of what's still around. |

Firefox made some changes in 30.0 which has kinda messed the script. I understand fixes are in the works..
