I've got a few RL friends getting into Eve for the first time and I'm looking for some PVE content that's challenging enough for a well set up group of 4 (logi, short range dps guy, drone guys, ecm etc. Skilled gamers, just new to Eve). So far level 4 missions are just too easy even though none of their toons are over 1 month old. c2-c3s are about right difficulty wise but I'm looking for some change of pace.
I was thinking of getting us into incursion scout sites, is ok to just walk in and see what we're made of or are there any unspoken rules in the community about such things? I've never actually done incursions myself.
(and before anyone suggests it yes we've done pvp and had fun, just that some nights we want to slay digital space rats.) |

No organized community I know of runs scout sites, and running them when an incursion first spawns would likely be seen as helpful, if only just due to the influence mechanics. That crazy bag FC with the silly things on the hull that shouldn't but just did. |

you wont **** anyone off running scout sites, but don't expect them to be challenging.
For more interesting stuff than level 4 missions, you need to leave hisec. Level5's, blitzing low/null missions, wormholes, and nullsec ded's, or unrated sites with escalations like the fleet staging point or provisional HQ might be up your alley. Or wormholes.
If you have a good group of friends, you might have some interesting hisec options. Cosmos missions and Epic arcs all take place in the same constellations. 4 people running the same epic arc could do any mission 4 times over before everyone travels to the next location. This could result in very fast clear speeds for everyone. One issue might be getting the requisite corp standings for everyone to be able to access each epic mission starting agent. Cosmos missions can't be repeated, but supposedly are both difficult and rewarding. Just some thoughts. Thanks for the answers/pointers. Grinding up to lvl 5s now, and we'll probably relocate to nullsec soon. Thus far wormholes are the ****.
I nearly lost these guys to boredom because I wanted to initially avoid pvp while they learned the user interface/fleet mechanics/ask questions. But there's zero challenge in skeet shooting mission enemies that can't break the shield regen of an armor tanked ship.
Too bad the early missions don't scale with incoming fleet size. |

move to npc nullsec, kill everything you see. Or for a bit more pve, I would take a pos to some quiet, perhaps stationless NPC nullsec system, and live out of that for awhile. Its good fun for a small, close nit group. And a bit easier than doing it in w-space. "CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. Try it. Seriously try it.
The old vets in incursions have no use for them. They are like a smarter L4. The rewards suck too.
But they are perfect for what you are after.
If you are all new get 2 logi ships doing a cap chain and 2 BC's and just enough learning the basics of a fleet while you test out the non mission AI.
If you wait till you are all in BS's and running L4's solo you waited 2 long. Get in there with 4 T1 BC and under size ships and bash while the content is still relevant to you. |

Forgive the OCD nitpicking, but FSP isn't an unrated site and hasn't been for 2 years. |

You can go for level 5 missions... but eve don't have the pve content you are looking for, at least not if you want a challenge, you should get into pvp if you want some fun content for a 4 man group.
Try joining factional warfare, you can fill the roles you mentioned with frigs, which are widely used in fw. I'm a relatively respectable citizen. Multiple felon perhaps, but certainly not dangerous. |

I know, but trying to explain it just makes it even MORE confusing. And a lot of people going for the best DED's will skip it anyway as its multi-stage and hard to solo. Or just.. simply modify the text blurb to included the DED threat assessment. That would really solve a lot of confusion. Will probably try all these suggestions (fw is definitely on the list).
Out of curiosity are there "rules" for the larger incursion sites?
thanks! |

Rules? Don't be a jerk (Debatable), take advices and use a fit which makes sense I would say.

I meant more in terms of bringing my own fleet and leaping into a site (without any players in it yet). The incursion community seems pretty well established and I don't know if there are any "this system's sites are claimed by the first to XXX" kind of gentlemans agreements. |

Just go and have fun.
If you contest occupied sites, it may irritate the ones who were there first, but it is allowed and happens often. There is a suggestion in Forums & Ideas that will make it harder for griefers to grief missioners. Unique Mission Item Theft Rebalance
