I am having a hard time comprehending why CCP made the stats on most COSMOS items (the ones you get from the BPC rewards agents give you) so bad. They are usually (if not always) worse than their tech 2 equivalents. Shouldn't they be better or at least the same as tech 2? Here is why:
First, they are more rare than tech 2 items. Only a small percentage of players are able to do COSMOS missions, and fewer actually do them.
Second, the skills to build these items are ridiculously expensive. Only a few people can even build them (making them MORE rare).
Third, the equipment required to build them is also rare and expensive.
With things the way they are now, COSMOS items will forever live in the BPCs they were given in. There is no incentive to ever build them. They are too expensive to build and they suck.

they're good enough for the fact that they're coming from hisec COSMOS. i'm sure when lowsec and 0.0 COSMOS locations appear you'll be able to find much better modules there.

No, quite frankly they're not. Considering that Level 4 COSMOS agents in 0.4 space are dropping these BPCs, they are nowhere near worth the risk it takes to get them nor the expense it takes to build them.
I do the missions because they are fun and that is often its own reward. But all things considered, the items you can build using those BPCs are virtually worthless.

hmm, there's one cosmos item I'm looking for and would pay quite much for. But so hard to find anyone who has them :/
Am I forced to have any regret? I've become the lie, beautiful and free In my righteous own mind I adore and preach the insanity you gave to me |

Errr ...
Covert Ops Cloaking Device II : Powergrid Usage 1 MW, CPU Usage 10000 TF.
Improved Cloaking Device II : Powergrid Usage 1 MW, CPU Usage 60 TF.
Prototype Cloaking Device I : Powergrid Usage 1 MW, CPU Usage 30 TF.
Where do you see a '0 CPU' in that, pray tell ?

Look at the ship bonuses... he is half right ... for cov ops its really almost negligable.

they look ok to me... however it is hard to find someone to build that stuff.
Originally by: Commander Nikolas People like Lukec are the problem and they know it. Shin Ra's Raven has 4x WCS, Lukec's Dominix has 5x WCS & Ishtar has 2x WCS.

Well, I know that Force Recon Ships and Covert Ops Frigates get a "-96% to -100% reduction in Cloaking Device CPU use per level", and that that could drop the CPU on those things to 0, but that ship bonus doesn't mean that a "Covert" Cloaking Device with 5000 CPU use is bad ...
I've also seen a COSMOS shield booster with better stats than a Tech 2 one, but since I've only seen it once, on the escrows, I'll bet it's fairly rare ...
Finally, COSMOS wasn't about "more nberisation", but about a new and different thing to do ingame when you don't want to mine, go to 0.0, do "traditionnal" missions or hunt NPCs in the belts ... and in that regard, it works.

Covert Ops frigates also have that bonus, and even with 1/2, they're the only ones who are going to be fitting them....

Are you INSANE? -10% grid on a large armour repairer I with the stats of a large armour repairer II. You're calling THAT bad? They're not really meant for PVP and are hardly throwaway but I've come up with some nasty setups that just barely fit with these things and are damn effective. The guns are nice to fit if you don't have the skills for T2 but in the end T2 will do more damage with T2 ammo and are worth the fitting. The real good things are the repairers, nos etc. Things that use a lot of grid.
