Your faith in your dumb ass arguments is fundamental, and there is no arguing with fundamentalists.
You told me yesterday that my arguments had been debunked many, many times. I'm just asking for a single example...shouldn't be that difficult. I figured you'd be excited to show me up.
Your right, it wouldn't be difficult. It would however, be time consuming. And your not worth the time. So, as usual, you figured wrong. "In the age of information, ignorance is a choice." www.stateofwar.co.nf |

There are plenty of engines available. I think people tend to imagine that to have WiS you need to redesign EVE, mess with its coding etc but thats not true at all.
Take EvEMon for example. Its not a part of EVE online but can pull data from EVE. I haven't played Dust myself but its a completely different program but its linked directly to EVE via local.
In fact Dust itself is an already functioning WiS system they're just walking on planets instead.
WIS only needs to pull and push data from local and markets and whatever channels the player has open. Its already developed, it just needs expanding so that interaction between docked players can occur. |

Oh yeah just because stations are massive doesn't mean you need to create massive WiS environments. Its a computer program, you can make it whatever you like, there's no limitation to reality and logic, they're frequently casualties of convenience.
Indeed, and the WIS environment need not even necessarily run on the same server.

In the captain's room of whatever its called you are able to walk around but it seems like just a gimmick while in a station instead of providing a real environment to interact with.
There should be shops, stores, places to relax or do business on those stations. Is that something that CCP is thinking about? With the PS3 game you have the fps combat added but I always thought EVE needed to allow visiting derelic or ghost ships and stations instead of just scanning a cargo and pressing a button.
Or maybe that is not what people want...I sure would love to mix space piloting/mining with exploring on foot in ships and stations
EDIT: Imagine all the RP that could be done inside stations and ships
The reason why is simple.
We have a lot of alpha aspergian min/maxers, ISK snatchers and KB addicts. Make any change to the game that does not improve "their" game the way they want to play it, or any feature that is not directly related to the way they play it, and they will rage all over the forums for weeks, like a bully who just got dog-piled in the playground and was asked by his mommy "what happened today?".

I still say Asperger's is not technically real and your just at that level of smart to realize how screwed up everything is but not quite able to cope with it. Or maybe that's just the definition of it? Don't know don't care.
People swear that I have it although that's only because I've been like the text book poster child for it since birth lol.
Just today I was feeling crappy thinking about how people in general are so freaking stupid and how there is no hope. Then I started thinking about my own mortality and it made me feel better.
"The day you finally realize nothing you do matters, there is no hope, life does not have meaning, and no mater what you do you are still going to die. That will be the day the shackles fall and you will be set free."
Basically meaning that if there is not a point then just stop caring about it. Just focus on enjoying crap while you can. I know its really hard sometimes though. But that quote (wich I came up with, anyone can use it but site me please lol)... that is what gets me through the day most times.

CCP always had Wis in mind sense lauch they didnt have the tech back then to pull it off nore did most people have the required hardware needed to pull it off..
ill see if i can find it they already had it up and running on Unreal Tech complete with passageways etc.... Honestly Wis and dust are a natural progression of eve..... (granted i would argue the platform of which they launched dust on was prob not the best.) Yes eve is somewhat about spaceships but that's not entirely what eve is... Read the lore you will understand that alot of what makes eve eve happens on planets.. So planet side espionage etc is very common place...
Sad part is we have a few things that are stopping this from happening..
A CCP is so stretched thin on things that they don't have the manpower.. Honestly at this rate Dust 514 and WOD is prob putting them so far in the hole that WOD better be the second coming of Christ.. Because if that flops they and we are in a world of hurt.
Second is to many I don't wanna call them actually i don't know what to call them.. There die hard eve players thats ok every game needs a hardcore group... But at the same time these people dont want eve to evolve which is bad because CCP is listening to these people... Honestly Eve has lasted longer then any other mmo without injections of new content. I dont mean content as terms of raids or whatnot of more mainline mmo's..
New content can be new areas of space to explore... New mission types so on so forth... Hell transforming planets + the ability to colonize the planet and build a star-base and run both would be a bonus but that's just some examples..
Political.. Alot of the fanfest videos anymore CCP just jokes about WiS... You can joke about it all you want with the cool kids but guess what you guys no offence need to own up and take responsibility that it was and is your game and your expansion that you dropped the ball on.. So honestly the laughing is at your expense.
Honestly in the end EvE was about a space simulation not just a ship simulation...

While I agree with that, I would argue that it more of a pure sandbox experiment that worked more then it being about space. Anyone can make a space game. CCP wanted to create a living functional world within a game. Its just about space ships because space ships are badass.

Your right the sandbox experience made the game.. Also note at the time CCP was a much smaller company out to make there mark.. They were a small indy company back in the early 2k era. You used to be able to play eve and with each new expansion and update it was a different fun game.. Yes spaceships are bad ass but u know whats even more bad ass a fully simulated enviorment where the players make the rules from space to the ground.
Example is (if it was a fully realized world.) Seras takes contract on High ranking Officer in some cooperation life so another cooperation can take over that planet and area of space..
Seras takes her ship deep into enemy lines under cloak and lands on the planet.
Seras Penertrates enemy city and find officer slits his throat and trashes his clones.
Gets into space and proceeds to warp out when she gets ambushed by some fighers loyal to the faction and learned of what happened.. Her ship suffers massive damage but manages to kill the small gang of fighters.. She takes her crippled ship back to her home space and collects payment...
The corp that hired her takes control of the system..
Sounds alot more fun then just spaceships. |

Never really understood why people call EvE a sandbox game.
PVE - Every mission is scripted. Every sig is scripted. Every incursion is scripted. Mining is scripted.
PvP - while not scripted from 2003 to today it's remained the same. Gate camping, blobbing, there's only a few optimal set ups no player innovation or out of the box mechanics.
There's only one way to take SoV, it's not spontaneous, in fact the opposite, you must turn up when the timer says so. No guerrilla tactics.
Remember Privateers? I created that, rather than taking Sov or sitting at gates we created a system of raiding alliances that didn't involve blobbing, gate camping or any of the same old scripted PvP. That was sandbox. It was soon patched out of the game because it "wasn't fair".
EvE is as sandbox as WoW there are rides, and only one optimal way to ride them.
WIS will allow for actual sandbox play. |
