So i decided to give PI a shot yesterday and didnt't really learn much about it so could do with some advice on set-ups and how to get everything placed correctly so i will post a couple screenshots of the first couple set-ups i placed and if somebody could tell me if im not doing it right or what to change then that would be great.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

looks about right. it isnt very difficult with such simple layouts. just remember to always link to a storage of some sort to act as a buffer. |

First, I only see a storage facility, a command center, 2 procs, and an extractor.
You NEED a launchpad. Yes, you can technically launch from the command center, but the amount you can launch is limited, and you pay greater costs on export. I don't even think you have the command center linked up in the above screenshot, so those goods are never leaving the planet in the setup above.
Replace the storage facility with a launchpad, or once you get higher skills, do something like this:
Extractor -> Storage -> Max Procs your -> launchpad.
Here is my setup from a long time ago:

I think the storage facility can replace the "buffer" launchpad I had up there. They've rebalanced Launchpads vs Storage since then.

oh yeah it wasnt set up in the screenshot because i was checking to see if removing the link would save power, i was planning on linking and launching from command center when i had a full load to launch :P but yes i might try a launch pad in my setup, im guessing you can launch more at a time to the customs office through the launch pad than you can with the command center? |

You can transfer as much to your customs office as you have storage space left in the customs office. Unless tax is crippling i would suggest always going through customs.
Also check the raw goods you can produce in good quantities and then see what P2 goods you can produce from them in situ. The volume to transport will be smaller and the value of PI stuff is usually increased each time you refine it. I would train command centre upgrades to IV at least. That should allow you to set up 2 extractors 4 basic facs and 2 advanced facs. On a planet with decent enough raw uields you should be able to produce the P2 goods (e.g. mechanical parts) 24/7 |

Okay so i got my PI colonies sorted out a bit better but i have one more question, is it possible to destroy the command center on a planet and place a new one in a different location without destroying the rest of the colony? |

Nope, unfortunately not You have to move the entire colony BUT if you are using a launchpad I don't think you actually need to be linked to the Command Centre, it just has to be planetside to build the other structures. Maybe try removing the structures without clicking submit but leave the CC in place and rebuild where you prefer then try submit. I'm assuming it won't let you if that's an incorrect configuration. This might save you having to buy a new CC at least.
Happy to be corrected though on this |

pro tip. Dont bother with storage.
Extracter>LaunchPad>Production>launchpad.

Indeed, unless you have a factory planet then a storage unit helps due to the volume of goods required to run 2 Hi-tech plants 24/7. None of my extraction planets have storage though, it simply isn't needed above and beyond the capacity of the launchpad |

This may be dependent of the system level and your skill but I run 1 extractor linked to 2 storage/lp each storage runes to 2 pi factories then the output goes to a launch pad that is also linked to 2 p2 factories the extranctors fill 1 storage the first day then the other one the 2nd day then bounce back and forth each day to keep them filled should get 2* p2 on one planet if the base resource is high enough.
Lava=consumer electronics gas= coolant barren = construction blocks and if you set up correct can also add a p3 and with import of electronics do robotics ocean = viral agent
