"Salvaging - New Mini-Profession
Salvaging will be mostly used to harvest ingredients to manufacture Tech I and Tech II mods for both modules and ships. You salvage Wrecks, which are created on destruction of player and npc ships instead of cans. You will remove loot from wrecks as usual, but to salvage the additional ingredients you require Salvaging equipment and skills."
oh wow this sounds awesome! so a battlefeild will be littered with half blown up hulls of ships??? so long as the lags bearable that would rock!!! imagine that system BOB has been camping now with all the nooby ships lol
how long will wrecks stay aroudn for? and will they look like a dead ship or half a ship or what? can there be a debris field around them also ? :p |

Ohhh...well, that definately sounds great!
Lag should not be too bad, a shipwreck would be just like a floating object in space, like a roid.
Hmm, anyone remembers first episode of "Firefly" ? Maybe put in salvage moduls tat only work on industrial class ships, and BANG! you have lots of people who will eagerly do the cleanup after a fierce battle in space.

And lots of people in battleships who'll wait around for the indies to salvage the materials, then blow them up and loot the salvaged goods :D ----- If you kill all the wolves, your gonna end up with a crapload of bunnies, and by bunnies I mean stupid people Eve & Linux Woot! |

Yup sounds like they're to replace the cans that get left by ships today, so it's no change lag-wise...

Hehe, sure that would be possible; but that way the winner of a battle has a motivation to stay on guard near the battlefield a while longer, if he wants to make some decent profit out of it to cover his losses; and survivors of the fleet that lost would get the chance to excert vengeance for their fallen comrades, if they do it right

can we "power down" in the middle of the battle wreakage and power up when someone gets close. "YARRRRR STEAL MY PLUNDER WILL YE!!!" CLICK "Module is empty." "what? I just bought new missles." CLICK "Module is empty." "ohh ohh.. yar?" - -
Please don't attack me. My ship is defragging it's hard drive. H.L. Mencken.

pardon me, but wouldn't this allow for a certain amount of insurance fraud... if you can blow up a ship for insurance, then salvage a wreck for more than the 1/3 of the cost of the ship it takes to insure, you'd be making money out of thin air....

This idea smokes. I think it would be rewarding to acualy have the need to hold ground durring combat AND (yes at the same time) have a new specilist class to get the loot. All that and the rewarding idea that after a fight I can see my ship slowly break-up and sink in space knowing that I have fought well. VS I have just been popped and left a can. look out! as well "Hmm, anyone remembers first episode of "Firefly" ? Maybe put in salvage moduls tat only work on industrial class ships, and BANG! you have lots of people who will eagerly do the cleanup after a fierce battle in space." This another very cool idea that might lean to logistic's ships. This may make them more useful and add another dimenssion to their gameplay.
look out! Astoroid..aaaaaaaa |
