I just finished getiing my standing with Lai Dai up to 3.0, and I have Caldari standing of 8.04 (also Science V). I found an agent in the agent finger that was available to me, flew to the station (where she also shows as available). But when I try to start research I get "Not the required standing" - what am I doing wrong? |

you cannot use your your own corp's standing to access a research agent. You also cannot use your faction standing. You must have you personal standings with the R&D corp up to 3.0 to use a level 3 agent. Skill modifiers are allowed.
Other than that, I don't know why you can't. "CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"

You should get your LaiDai standing to 5 and get level 4 research agents.
There is a level 3 combat agent in Nuken I think. It wouldn't take long at all to go from 3 to 5 corp standing. |

I thought R&D agents didn't make sense anymore because after the CCP nerf you can't get enough datacores to payoff the $40 Million required skillbook.
Is that not true?

Not even remotely true. But it depends on what time frame you select, can it pay itself back in a day? nope. A week? Nope. but wait not too long and it has. That said, I havent touched my agents in a long time. To much hassle to fly all the way there. |

Nothing like they used to be, but it's something like 300 mill a year per character. Not great but it only takes two weeks or so to train and a Saturday to grind standings. When you have several indy/invention/pi alts anyway its an easy value add. After the initial work the meter runs 24/7/365 for the life of the game weather you're subbed or not.
I personally scoop all mine about once a year. |

With L4 agents, you get between 90 and 120 RP per day (depending on the science used). With 5 agents (the most likely number since 6 takes forever to train up), that's 450 to 600 RP per day per character, which is 13500 to 18000 RP per month. Datacores cost 50, 100, or 150 RP per core, average is 100 RP. So that's 135 to 180 cores per month at ~100k per core (generous estimate) minus 10k per core cost, which is 12,150,000 to 16,200,000 isk per month per character. If you had all 3 characters on an account doing it, you'd get 36,450,000 to 48,600,000 isk per month per account. Back in the day, I used to almost plex an account on datacores alone. Sigh.

I assume this was changed as it was considered too much passive income. I would like to see a mechanism whereby RP could be used directly for invention (via a secure FTL comms link of course) alongside being physicalized into datacores for sale. This would rebalance things somewhat as there would be a limited ISK generation as per now, but inventors don't suffer from this as we typically need far more datacores than can be researched. |

Are R & D agents useful for mission runners because of storyline missions? |

"Useful" is kinda the wrong word, but yes, the R & D agents will credit each time towards your required 16 missions for a storyline with that Faction. Julius Cabeki wrote:Are R & D agents useful for mission runners because of storyline missions? If you don't actually run their missions, they don't contribute to your mission totals for storylines. But if you are running them daily, yes, they count for storylines. Beware derived negative standings though. Esp. if you have R&D agents in opposing factions. |
