Every game that has the option to play a bounty hunter esque role I always go for it and it seems like a great option in Eve. I'm on my seventh day and don't really find mining interesting. |

Not really. Mainly because bounties in EVE don't mean much, and thus bounty hunting in itself isn't a full profession.
Also, because, no matter how high that bounty is, it will not change the game's aggression mechanics. No matter how high that bounty is, if you kill a ship worth 100mil...you get paid 20mil bounty from the pool. Want to have some chat in game? Need help to get into the game as a new player? What J'Poll said is true but you could look for people who have kill rights available for public activation instead of bounties. When you activate kill rights on somebody they go suspect with normal 15 minutes timer and since everybody can freely shoot suspects you won't take gate/station guns for aggression nor Concord will get involved. Your opponent can defend himself though so be prepared to run or getting exploded when you bite more than you can chew.
And since people with public kill rights usually have also bounties on them you might get lucky. At beginning you will probably die again and again but nobody said chasing criminals is safe and easy job :)
I would read about Crimewatch 2.0, bounties, duels, kill rights and all that stuff before you go looking for viable targets. In Eve your most powerful weapon is knowledge and I would start with arming myself with this before even loading your guns.
Good luck :) I am not my skills but... http://eveboard.com/pilot/Schmata_Bastanold |

Bounties are payed out as a percentage of the cost of the ship killed. This is to prevent abuse where people get in a cheap ship and get their friend to shoot them to clear the bounty. However, it makes bounty hunting sort of a non-thing, because people have to be in very expensive ships for you to get a good payout.
A similar profession which works a bit better in EVE is joining a mercenary corporation. These are players that get payed to declare war on other players, fighting for those who can't or don't want to. Or if you don't actually need a reason to shoot people you can just head out to low/null/wormhole space and shoot at anyone (this is what I do ) www.ensignyooch.wordpress.com
