Aussuming there is a fleet battle between 10 apoc and 10 raven. Raven's setup is unknown but will be with t1 cruise missiles, and setup of apoc can be anything.
So, could anyone come up with some fairly good suggestions for apocs to win? (the limit is that both apoc and raven can only use t1 equipments and t1 ships)

The question is, how could the Apocs lose? Warp in at 200km and anyone targeted will have plenty of time to warp out before getting pummeled by missiles. Warp back and continue fighting.

Ravens would warp to an inline planet, warp back at close range, scramble and take out Pocs.
Any range combat will only result in warp outs. You need to hold a ship to get a kill.

Ravens work better with Torps

Eh? Since when? 10 TachPocs can easily one volley a Raven. In a game of cat and mouse with both fleets warping in and out, the Apocs could slowly pick off the Ravens as they align for jump while the Ravens' cruise missiles have no such option.

Ravens are not used in an all BS fleet against an all BS fleet. You win by default bys showing up... If they are uber and you warp in on them they ll run. Uf they warp in on you, even if uber, they ll lose 1-3 Ravens at that range and then run.
Now 10 megathrons... yeah they d cream you :)
You can only lose by failing to explain to your pilots how to allign etc or if they cheat and bring a Dictor

Why do Ravens perform so poorly in fleet battles when on the other hand everyone thinks they are so overpowered in missions and seemingly everywhere else? Are they just being misused?

flight time. the raven's will do zero damage for about the first 20seconds. thats enough for 10 apocs to take out at least one raven.

I'd say 20 seconds they could kill at least 4 ravens in 20 seconds. ---

I'd rather fly an Apoc than a Raven to be honest.
Why?
- Huge tank & one of the best Cap Drain ships due to its ship bonuses - When there are multiple BS in a fight, chances are Apoc will get called primary last. Because your tank is too big and people don't see them as a threat. - Tachs getting boosted soon - Raven is Soooo "Vanilla"

But by that time shouldn't the Raven pilots already have fired another volley at their second target? Sure it takes longer for the missiles to get there I know this, but are the Apocs spread out enough to be able to tell who is getting targeted with them?
And what if the Ravens cheated and used a Covert ops ship to warp in closer?

but by the time the missiles hit, the first raven is down, reducing the DPS. and when the first apoc dies, there will be a lot of wasted missiles in space unless you have amazing timing - which i severely doubt.
and of course, at long ranges, the targetted apoc can warp off before any missiles hit.

This thread makes me wanna go amarr for its tanking, if not sheer beauty.
But anyway, if the apocs were to not warp and simply run straight in, good chance the ravens would make mince meat of them.
