Are we able to bring back the ability to Scan down Wrecks again? We used to have the ability and with all these new Salvaging ships and drones created, it makes sense to have the ability to Scan down the wrecks or other collectible objects. As the servers are getting lagged out with more objects in it, Having all them wonderful Salvaging boats REMOVING objects from the maps would be wise. I mean we can already scan out the players when they are in the areas, why not let us scan out the abandoned pockets as well. There are many pilots out there that don't salvage the wrecks itself. Re-open scanning wrecks and let the players get all those shiny abandoned wrecks off the field. |

I actually think it would be fun if when you turned a mission in the wreck fields would spawn a beacon that showed up on the scanner without needing probes.
Beacon could include the information of the corp & pilot who owns the loot, and a timestamp.
I also think they should add rescued crew/passengers/criminals etc.. depending on the faction of the destroyed ship that could be turned in for rewards. They are the ones placing the beacons in hopes that someone will come save them.
It would likely liven up salvage trade, and make wars and such more interesting. |

Making more objects targets for probes sounds like a good idea in general, although your reasons aren't very good.
Captain StringfellowHawk wrote:Are we able to bring back the ability to Scan down Wrecks again? We used to have the ability When was that? I'm pretty sure probing wrecks was only ever implemented briefly on Singularity, as a test or possible feature for consideration, and later removed again without ever making it to Tranquility. But I could be wrong.
There was a scan group called "scrap" which included wrecks, containers, stuff like that, but it never did anything.
Captain StringfellowHawk wrote:As the servers are getting lagged out with more objects in it, Having all them wonderful Salvaging boats REMOVING objects from the maps would be wise. I don't think mission wrecks are a significant source of server-side lag. There are only dozens of them in each mission, and I don't think they interact with any clients unless you hit your d-scan.
Could this idea be made a little bit more specific, and could you consider some of the potential negative impacts (for example: How much faster will it be to probe out a mission runner with all the extra pings?) of this change? Do YOU like to undock? |

Before the Whole probe changes that occured recently.. might of been pre - odyssey can't remember, You were indeed able to scan out Wrecks in odyssey. Would fly around in a catalyst Salvaging them, would also find abandoned drones in the sites and made a good amount of isk recovering lost drones. This was also useful in wormholes as the sites had disappeared rather quickly at one time. This was also before they put a cap at 2 hours before things started to disappear. But it was on Tranq. |

Fully agree all wrecks should be tractorable( with a flag given if its not yours). Hell there have been plenty of times just warping back to a site wrecks that I killed with a friend went yellow because they docked up on me. They would have to come back... Blue the wrecks, then redock up to do what they had to do. |

Yes, exactly. The ships we are killing are neither Pod controlled nor drone ships. Pods reduce radically the amount of crew needed, and certain groups, like Gallente, favor drone labor... But standard ships, especially Battleships, have tons of crew. Surely there should be a lifeboat or two. |

That actually would be Interesting since on some missions you do get extra crew out of , I have tons of slaves and military men, and strippers... lots and lots of strippers LOL. But I can see that, Adding a Micro mission for rescuing life boats. Maybe a Side trade like we have Dog Tags, You can "trade" the captured Crew back to that faction in one of there Stations For LP etc. BUT this is side railing my post :P I like it tho! |

I'm against this, because shooting wrecks isn't fun.

The gameplay implications to be considered by making wrecks scannable is what should be considered. Adding MTUs and salvage drones is itself not a reason to change anything.

This is completely unrelated/irrelevant to server lag. "CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"
Never forget. |

So don't shoot wrecks. Other more industrious type people do. Just like some mine, some mission and others PVP. We all have our gameplays.
As for unrelated to Lag, every object in space whether floating or moving are objects in memory. Objects in memory doing nothing is just wasting memory, having people moving around removing them gets those dozens of ships out of space, therefor out of the server memory. any object in space is in that areas memory. In the end, Wrecks were removed from scanning for some reason and we should be able to scan them down Instead of them just sitting wasting away memory in space. |

Against the ability to tractor someone elses wrecks, it would make stealing mission loot too easy. Yawn,-á I'm right as usual. The predictability kinda gets boring really. |

They would have to go suspect to Tractor the wrecks... Same as if they were going to steal it in the first place.. I'm sorry but if a Noctis or catalyst jumped into my site while I am running it, went suspect and started Tractoring it all to him, I would Blap it out of the sky and warp to a safe lol. |
