Huh...?
Do you mean the modules? And if so...wouldn't that make sense? If your ship blows up, wouldn't the things on/in it also blow up? -Zyck CEO of Principium |

Lets say the ship is worth 300K, and u get a full money back from the insurance for that... BUT if u put 300K worth equipment on it, its all gone... as an example, its like dieing in WoW and losing all ur weapons and armor!

Bwahaha, talk about missing the point.
Go back to your little sandbox MMO and stop calling people 'nub', nub.

yes, but that takes away a lot of the fun for us. playing is a risk. if every other MMO suits you better, go and play them instead.
also, in case you hadn;t noticed, not everything goes pop. about half of it drops - if you die to NPCs you can get that back. if you die to players, they will steal it,

we're very attached to our game, and the death penalties are a lot of what make it fun. wait till you fly t2 and can't insure at all . recently we've had a lot of people making alt characters (second characters on their account) and posting "ohnoes the death penalty is too harsh. change it please" or something similar solely for the purpose of attracting flames. This has a number of the signs of one.
On the other hand, if you are honestly a new player who dislikes the system, i am sorry for suggesting this was an alt post, and suggest you either get used to it or find a game where the penalties suit you better.

if you don't want risks, you might as well go off and play Counterstrike or something. Risks is what makes Eve so damn awesome ;) ---

Noone's said it and I feel obliged.
This isn't any other MMO. This is EVE. There's a lot of reasons why it goes against the traditional MMO grain. Testament to this is the long period of time people tend to hold accounts for.
There has be a real disadvantage to loss. Even insured ships that get destroyed cost to reinsure. It's all part of the game that keeps the adrenaline pumping in every fight. ______________________

If anything on this planet could be called a "design flaw", it would be the whole concept of WoW, where no one loses anything, no one ever wins, there are no heroes or villians, and the only stupidly simplistic and pointless measure of how successful you are at the game is the amount of time you've managed sink out of your non-existant social life into grinding npcs.

Think about it Imperial, sure its fun to not lose anything. But for how long? If you didnt lose anything when you messed up, you would get bored after a while. Now you have something to strive for. A universe to conquer.

It's not a design flaw - it's intentional.
This is not WoW - there's no zerging here, dying has a price.
It's not that you're 'roleplaying a jerk'... it's a matter of typecasting. |

never put all your eggs in one basket. theres always a fair chance you'll lose it, and you won't want to do that.
At some point in your life in eve you will lose something worth a lot to you. If you can cope with it and move on, you're in the right game. If not, you should move on elsewhere.
I just hope people realise this isn't a free ride before they put a lot of time and effort in. I don't like seeing people upset when they realise they will lose stuff

Originally by: HippoKing i agree with your beginning and your end, but if you believe theres no zerging, i sugges you pay sydicate a visit
Fair enough - I was defining zerging as rushing right back into battle with no penalty - as is done in WoW or SWG.
In Eve you might have a dozen fitted frigates in your hangar and can return quickly to the fray, but there is still some cost in money and time.

zerg was a race in starcraft, whose strength was weight of numbers
Zerg rushing (or zerging for short) means rushing with loads and loads of weak units, a la goonfleet and blobbing the enemy to death.
