Hello,
Gonna make this short, new players, do not subscribe to this game for the ubers will **** you and the asteroid fields, giving u no chance to play.
Harrassment by players putting bounties on you for no reason is no way to welcome new players who have a hard enough time learning the game.
Like all games, EVE is too old with too many grumps having free time to screw other players.
I have uninstalled the game, and will follow up with a detailed explanation of why this skinners bag is too full. That will be on my forums.
GL you old ubers, there will be no new blood for this game if i can help it. |

I appreciate you not linking "your forums", saving me the trouble of ignoring the link.

Your criticisms of the game aside, this is a really stupid place to reach the audience you're trying to reach.
Go post this somewhere where prospective players might actually see it. Then they'll come here and activate the trial, having determined from your post that you are a whiny *****. Im sorry to hear that your experience with game has been disappointing. However it is a real shame that EvE, which is probably the least competitive environment I can think of, was the one to make you quit gaming.

It's a PVP game. Clicking "undock" is consenting to someone else being able to ruin your day. New players already have more then enough safeguards in place to make things easy for them to at least get a basic grasp of how the universe works. Also, as a new player - there's nothing you own of enough value to even worry about losing. If that's not the case, then perhaps we should focus on brand new accounts flying blinged out Navy ships with faction mods? :P |

Bounties are, for the most part, inconsequential.
In fact many players put them on themselves for amusement or to look 'cool' somehow.
Don't let it worry you mate.
Having said that however, if such a thing has irked you enough to leave then maybe EVE is simply not the kind of game for you. It gets much tougher and rougher than a bounty

This. Fast heads up, OP - a bounty on your head only pays out a fraction of itself to the people that destroy you, and that amount is based off the value of the ship you are in at the time. No one cares or even worries about bounties, they are a mostly meaningless system. :) |

No no its not consenting, consenting is invitation to duel. As opposed to a character with many millions of skill points facing a nhew player with say 500k SP max. Sorry but eve is ****** up in that respect. Other MMOs have a levelling mechanic so that the new player has at least an equal footing to the older character/player. |

it's like putting a killright on someone below -5 sec status.
i laught everytime someone does one or the other (i like the combo of both, ultimately when it comes with a mail telling how it will ruin my game etc..... because i'm a very BAD person).

Not entirely pointless. The -6 I grabbed on a gate camp in low sec the other day had a free killright on him that I could activate, which meant the gate guns wouldn't shoot me. He died, I laughed, and we all went our merry way.
EDIT: And yes, I've only just realised why I never needed to activate them at all. You're right. Go ahead, rub it in You don't scare me. I've been to Jita. |

Sorry but eve is ****** up in that respect. Other MMOs have a levelling mechanic so that the new player has at least an equal footing to the older character/player. Actually, it is consenting. It's a free-for-all open PvP environment and if you undock into it, you have to accept the fact that you can be shot at for any reason at any time. You may not GÇ£consentGÇ¥ to in the sense of GÇ£wanting it to happenGÇ¥ but rather in the sense of GÇ£accepting that it can (and will) happenGÇ¥.
As for other MMOs, what they have is level restrictions that simply disallow interactions if the players are on unequal footing. They most certainly don't have any mechanics that equalise old and new players GÇö they just separate them. EVE solves that problem by not having much in the way of unequal footing to begin with and by making sure that any inequality is actually fairly trivial to work around or outright reverse. Being an older player in EVE isn't nearly the same advantage as in those other poorly-designed games. GÇ£If you're not willing to fight for what you have in GëívGëí you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.GÇ¥

Do something other than mining and you won't get ganked. Something about eve makes people instantly gravitate towards mining.

I'm aware of no MMOs that have mechanics that place a lower level character on equal footing with a higher level character, since the point of level is to quickly illustrate the differences in power.
Also, you can be at 50m skillpoints and your retriever or hulk will still get ganked. "CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"

Sorry, but you are simply *wrong*. This is a PVP game. The only place you are safe is while docked. Anything other then docked - all you can do is take steps to minimize your risk and keep your losses down.
Other MMOs have a level based system. Eve does not. Eve is not other MMO's.
The sad part about this - OP is doing it wrong. On my first Eve character, I was introduced to PVP in much the same way it sounds like the OP was - by random acts of violence in high sec when I was quite new. So I took the time to make social contacts, meet and talk to other players, do a lot of research and reading - and I found out that new players are more then able to defend themselves against this type of random aggression.
Instead of rage quitting, OP could be using this experience to learn how to defend himself better, and even how to join forces with others and get some good old internet space ship based revenge. It's easy. I don't care how many skill points some random ganker has, the EVE system provides the players with plenty of tools to level the playing field. |

Killing you one time is *not* harassment. Placing a bounty on you is not harassment. No, it wasn't me that killed him, BTW.
You are fortunate to have found out so soon that you are not cut out for this game. Better finding out now in a cheap mining ship 18 days in than an expensive mission boat 18 months in.

Agreed I do believe something needs to be done to allow new players not to be subject to this kind of crap but at its heart this is what EVE is like it or not really. |
