Ok...that thread title was a little :DD:
Here is a suggestion that would enable some more variety in rig configurations.
Hull Core Optimization rig Category: Engineering rigs Calibration: 0 Effect: T1: +100 calibration T2: +150 calibration
The gain in calibration is somewhat off-set by the fact you need a rig slot to enable it. Also, a desirable effect would be that T1 and pirate ships would benefit more from the rig than T2 ships.
Thoughts? |

The gain in calibration is somewhat off-set by the fact you need a rig slot to enable it. The difference in power between T1 and T2 rigs is off-set by the manufacturing-->procurement cost as well as the fact you wont always need the extra 50 cali T2 provides. Also, a desirable effect would be that T1 and faction ships would benefit more from the rig than T2 ships. Thus the versatility vs niche focus between the ship classes would be retained.
Thoughts?
i don't know if i like this but i was thinking about a fitting skill that gave more calibration points per lvl. not sure if i want rigs or modules to have effect on this, but it could be worth it. |

so this could be used to fit two rigs with more than 200 calibration on them, but the point of giving them more than 200 calibration is so that u cant fit more than two of them.
so... EVE FAQ "7.2 CAN I AVOID PVP COMPLETELY?No; there are no systems or locations in New Eden where PvP may be completely avoided""So it will be up to a pilot to remain vigilant wherever they may be flying and be ready for anything at any time" |

So the point is you can have more combinations of rigs and loadouts without introducing significant power creep into the system. More choice is always good, and the counter of losing a rig slot for improving the cali on the others is actually very balancing if you play around a little with rig calibration and isk costs.
Moreover, I think you can balance the idea even more by moving the cali gain to 50 for T1 and 100 for T2 or even introducing a penalty when fitting the rig. I mainly posted to get some feedback on the concept as a whole. |

this is why i have trouble with that. The limit is there for good reasons. still is it I THINK possible and interesting to add a skill to add a bit of calibration. i was thinking about 10 per lvl or 5 per lvl with an follow up skill for an additional 5 per lvl. it should be balanced ofc.
i had fits where i nearly could fit 3 rigs that i didn't considered OP or anyting but i came 50 cal short so i had to use a T1 rig example an archon i fit 2x Capacitor Control Circuit II and then i want to add an Auxiliary Nano Pump i can fit the T1 version but not the T2 i dont concider this too OP and with a new skill it can be done. |

how so? if you can't fit the rigs combo you like due to rig calibration chances are pretty good you are hitting a cap ccp put in place when they made the calibration cutoffs for the ships.
Also the loss of one rig slot for this rig may not be as bad as you think. I have a few 3 rig slot fits where 3rd rig was chosen just because. What I want was not fitting or stacking was making it a waste (as I don't tend to min/max mods or rigs for little gain) and 3rd slot was well what fits or seems interesting. But in most of my cases if I got what I wanted I'd be pushing the imba limits real fast and I know this.
Granted some ships take more than their fair share of hits with current setup...its the truly fun combos that would be abused that make ccp erring on the side of caution a potential better course of action.
Put more simply its because of a few players/ships we can't have nice things lol. |

I think its a good idea, this will help the SOE exploration ships actually be able to be fit properly, currently you can't them or any other ships deemed good for exploration with two T2 Memetic Algorithm Bank and Emission Scope Sharpener rigs.
