I hope the publication of the Dust514 session of the CSM8 SUMMER minutes won't be a CSM9 platform item to run on
Session 15: Team True Grit and the DUST 514 Link
Due to the large amount of NDA material in this session, and the rapidly evolving nature of DUST 514 development, this session will be temporarily delayed. Readers should expect it to be added very soon after the new year. (CSM 8 August 2013 Minutes, Page 45) Eve rule no.1: The players will make a better version of the game, then CCP initially plans.

Enough of the material from this session has since shifted in the live DUST development environment that I'm afraid the Cursed Onyx-Black CIA Marker of Ultimate Redaction +4 may very well have left indelible marks upon it. As always the CSM provided excellent council from their capsuleeric vantage-point, but I'm afraid this session may very well be lost for the ages. A very real and sometimes manifested possibility when the CSM is shown stuff from CCP's other products.

My problem is that I care less about the actual DUST content, and more about the desire to know if the CSM represented me in the only issue I really care about. For me, without those minutes, the election isn't much more than a shot in the dark. |

Understandable. Hopefully you can parse them out on at least one or two other areas of your gameplay. The Vote Match site might not match you up perfectly, but I've found it a good way to get a checklist for the the various issues I do want to do my investigations into candidates stances on.

Thanks Manifest for coming in and clarifying things-- this was one of those questions where the NDA is so thick on the ground that "say nothing" is the safe CSM answer, and obviously the community would like to know more. I'll be bookmarking this thread for when it comes up again.

Well, lemme just try writing out a position paragraph then. Regarding DUST, on CSM8, I have been advocating for a strong but not overpowering link between DUST and EVE. Aspects of this which are important:
DUST mercs are mercenaries. This means that I should not have to have a DUST arm in order to succeed at things in EVE; having one on speed-dial should be sufficient. If I need something from DUST mercs, I should be able to easily find available outfits, know something about their reputations, and pay them to do things for me. I do like the pattern wherein both air and ground superiority is better than either individually.
In general, DUST mercs *doing things* are more compelling than DUST mercs owning stuff. Bonuses such as "you get x% off fuel on planets you own" are kind of meh; I have to own a DUST outfit (:effort:) and it's a static situation rather than an active source of fights. That said, I've heard some good ideas involving e.g. owning planetary facilities gives you bonuses for doing stuff in space (kind of like links), which is neat for terrain reasons.
My personal favorite point for interaction between DUST and EVE would be PI disruption. It scales really, really well between low and null-sec-- someone sitting on your PI and dramatically reducing its output would *suck*, and you should be able to pay people to do this (and pay people to kick people doing this off of your planet). It's a pure "**** you" mechanic that would allow a wealthy attacker to whittle away at a main income stream for a lot pilots, particularly in more-lucrative null-sec space. However, disrupting people's PI doesn't affect the *mechanics* of sov capture; it just would provide a valuable extra tool in an attacker (or defender's) tool box (c.f. "Scarpia stated that currently, wars of material attrition hardly exist, and CCP should focus some of their efforts on making those work.")
I've heard some interesting ideas also around integrating DUST (optionally) into structure hits to make them less grindy; that's a lot harder without carefully tuning mechanics. Again, the goal should be making DUST hard, but not impossible, to ignore. It seems like DUST does reasonably well in FW right now (although I understand there are still some issues and correct me if I'm wrong); if it could have a similar kind of interaction with other areas of EVE, that would be ideal.
I've said as much to CCP on basically every chance I've been given, and I've had a number of great conversations with the CPM on this subject. Don't believe me? Ask my colleagues, or the CPM members, in particular Hans Jagerblitzen. http://warp-to-sun.tumblr.com -- my blog |

Ali deserves our votes, not only for the days she spent working diligently on CSM 8, but more importantly, because of the awesome cover's she is willing to do of Sindel songs for your votes.

Has the CPM and CSM formed a strategy to address a more fluent communication relay between Dust mercs and Eve capsuleers, to provide the players of both games a reliable way to find and help one another ? Eve rule no.1: The players will make a better version of the game, then CCP initially plans.
