Which would you prefer ?
A pocket BS 40-50mil Similar to battlecruiser expect has more grid allowing it to mount Large turrets instead of mediums
A pocket Dread 300-400mil can still use gates plenty of grid for mass firepower and tanking. BS 5 would be a requirment
Specialist role Sniper Better drone ship Better tanking ship (more base res/level) etc etc
Which would you be hoping for ?

I'll just take non-screwy Teir3 battleships please.
Make teir3 BCs that fit BS weapons maybe.

Edited by: Harry Voyager on 12/04/2006 01:10:14 Actually, it would be rather interesting to see how a lightly armoured fast battleship would perform against battlecruisers.
I think the way to do that would be to set up the fast BS with a lower agility mass modifier than current BS, one less mid/low slot, and about 75% of the power regeneration of current battleships. Throw in 30-50% more speed, a low base mass, and fast locking times and we're all set.

Speaking strictly from naval nomenclature, a fast battleship would be a battlecruiser. - - - - - "Never offend people with style when you can offend them with substance." - Sam Brown |

I want a gallente battleship that is utterly unbalanced compared to the rest of the ships in eve. Further, I would like it to go unnoticed by the dev's and the rest of the population, save for me of course.

Hmm, just brainstorming here....
What about the ability to outfit more or less like a current BS, but with the added special ability to fit 1 capital-size weapon? ---

Hows about what they will really be like, exactly the same with about 300-500 more structure/armor/shield hitpoints and slightly easier fitting.

Heavy cruisers - 4-5 Large gun hardpoints, it would be to the BS as the cruiser is to the BC. ~30-45 mils.

Just a normal Tier 3 BS please, but a a T2 BC based on the yet-to-be-introduced Tier 2 BC's that have a bonus like the Stealth Bombers to fit BS weapons with the HP's of a BC would be cool.

No reason for the tier 3 BS to be more of a buffed BC, that's what tier 2 BC's are for.
But different roles, with easier fittings, and a bit more armor/shields is fine.

I've been suggesting a similar thing, although just for the Minmatar, for over a year. I figure it could be a "Glass-jaw battleship" like they had in WWII. Very fast, average shields, almost no armor, low-ish structure, very agile, low mass, normal battleship weapons. -------- Tom Thumb > for a nut case you rawk [04:21:15] Mebrithiel Ju'wien > Nik's bio 4tw btw [07:38:53] Graelyn > Nikolai for Dev 108!

Exactly what class of ship are you thinking of? Because as far as I can recall, battleships weren't like that in WWII.
I still contend that when people are thinking of a ship like that, they're talking about what in naval parlance, was known as a battlecruiser.
Quote: "Generally, battlecruisers were similar in layout and armament to battleships but with significantly less armour allowing for gains in speed. The chief similarity was the role specification. They were designed to hunt down and outgun smaller warships and outrun larger warships that they could not outgun.

tier 2 is better. for instance scorpion is tier 1 and raven is tier 2 because raven has more hp and hardpoints.

They were basically ships that were beefier than regular battlecruisers, but still not armored as heavily as normal battleships. They were sometimes referred to as battlecruisers, sometimes battleships, it's really quite confusing. H.M.S. Hood is the most famous. -------- Tom Thumb > for a nut case you rawk [04:21:15] Mebrithiel Ju'wien > Nik's bio 4tw btw [07:38:53] Graelyn > Nikolai for Dev 108!

I don't care what they do to the new battleships, so long as they hire some more talented modellers, so us Minmatar don't get another flying turd.
PS: Make it symmetrical.

hear hear! Encore. I say make a new minnie ship that the vherekhonir tribe brought designs for, that turned out to be uber advanced:
- imposing design, - sleek, non rusted maybe? - 100% projectile turrets possible for hi-slots - good for close up to complement the tempest, so 7 low slots please!

Eve's style is specialisation. You can see it in everything, from ships to skills to field of expertise. I have no doubt in my mind that the new tier 3 BS will be more specialised forms of existing ships or have specialised roles. They won't be outright better, just better than current ships in their niche. At least, that's what I think's going to happen.

How bout Tier3 tackling battleships
Possible bonuses (and/or) +1 to warp disruptor strength per level +10km to warp disruptor range per level +10% to webbifer strength per level +10km to webbifer range per level
you'd prob need to nerf the offensive abilties of such ships lest you make the ultimate gank ship ;)
but wouldnt it make fleet combat a little more interesting ;)

If you people would have just checked out Graelyn's link, you would have seen that you're already getting that: Minmatar battleship

We already know that the Caldari battleship is going to be a dedicated railgun sniper, so the other three will probably also be specialized too. -------- Tom Thumb > for a nut case you rawk [04:21:15] Mebrithiel Ju'wien > Nik's bio 4tw btw [07:38:53] Graelyn > Nikolai for Dev 108!

Think he means ships like Germany's Pocketbattleships Admiral Graf Spee and Admiral Scheer among others.
These battleships where built lighter than normal battleships because Germany where not allowed to have battleships above a set weight.
Basically ... pocketbattleships where at the size of heavy cruisers but had guns bigger than heavy cruisers of other nations.
