Have you noticed how corrupt Concord has become as of late? Taking bribes to allow pirate corporations to assault industrial corps? Shooting down anyone who even accidently brushed with the law? How many have died in their growing lust for control and power? Has Concord outlived it's usefulness? What are these secret bases of theirs far out in 0.0 space?

The seeds and roots of CONCORD lie in it's fifth star, I assure you, across the divide.

The corruption of CONCORD will be its downfall. Sooner or later the empires will realize the monster they have created, and crush it. -------- Tom Thumb > for a nut case you rawk [04:21:15] Mebrithiel Ju'wien > Nik's bio 4tw btw [07:38:53] Graelyn > Nikolai for Dev 108!

I believe CONCORD's position is taken for granted by many, who enjoy the free trade and access of movement across the Empires' star-cluster.
The organization is in it's twilight, bt I believe thanks is due for a century of relative peace. Theirs is an unpopular job, but a neccesary one nevertheless.

I do agree, that along with the individual faction's personal fleets (who do most of the hard work) that there is reletive peace. What Concord has done of late, is to allow pirates free access to empire, as long as Concord is well paid.
I would also like to note, Concord is a faction who is completely independant from the empires, and not answerable to them. There is no system known to keep them in check. Yes, if the empires knew what Concord was really up to, and if Concord starts to act openly, they'll go down. Probably through a long and painful war, but they'll go down.

Edited by: Jack Folstam on 12/04/2006 21:24:55 erm... for starters, everyone knows the rules CONCORD plays by, if you shoot someone near them, you're dead, it's not a secret. Secondly these 'bribes' as you put them, aren't just used by pirate corporations to assault industrial corporations. Third, those secret bases in deep 0.0 are for the DED to do its job - harass the pirate cartels.
I personally think CONCORD is quite useful, and doing a very good job, under the circumstances. Some people seem to think CONCORD is infallible, and incorruptible. It is not, no one is, recognize that. Empire's aren't, empire navies aren't, and neither is CONCORD. Also, if i recall correctly, in the blood raider assault on khanid prime, they had some sort of jamming system to interfere with CONCORD's ability to respond to them.

War is declared on another corp, a payment is made to Concord, and people die. All you need to do in order to pay for your pirate activities in empire, is to pay a fee to Concord; otherwise they will declare it illegal, and start shooting. This is nothing but a system of bribes, in order to keep the fat cops happy.
Concord has also been conveniently absent on more than once in high security areas recently, when it was painfully obvious they should have been there to defend civilian life.
Am I saying remove Concord? No, that would be stupid. Concord itself needs an overhaul, and a system of checks and ballances. It needs some transparency in order for people to trust them. If not, they're mearly a group of overlord thugs with badges, and very big guns.

Interesting, you claim not only to speak for all of us but you have a CONCORD logo behind you?

Nonsense. They live off the resources given to them by the empires. They will become nothing without that income.

I disagree with you on that. CONCORD has his bills paid by the capsuleer corpses as much as by the empires noadays. The only things they can't get from capuleer corpses is personel, who are all gained from the respective empires CONCORD guards.
Though I am no expert on how much a CONCORD 'sanctioned' war costs, the sheer number of these wars keeps the coffins of the agency filled I bet. It's a self earning busines, by providing the service of sanctioned wars they can uphold the service of no-unsanctioned wars.
Wether or not this makes CONCORD corrupt, I don't dare to gamble on. I don't like CONCORD. But my reasons are, I think, quite obvious.

While it is necessary for the CONCORD to be independet form the empires, I think it has been allowed with to much freedom. CONCORD can do anythign it wants unchecked. It's like it's own miniature empire. Having CONCORD around is a good thing btu some method of controll or surveilance should be placed on it. i19.photobucket.com/albums/b185/spino88/siggy1.jpg[/IMG]

Oops, just read this. CONCORD only deals with capsuleers yes? I think the DED is the institute you need to take care of your problem. Just make sure he has done something illegal.
