This man has created an environment which actively encourages new players to stick around beyond the length of their trial. Eve needs people like Matias in order to dispel the outside opinion of Eve as an intimidating/boring spreadsheet simulator in space. |

This man, and a handful of other brave vets, have single-handedly changed the game of EVE Online. There were others who had a similar idea, but in reality he not only had the idea but the wherewithal to do it. And when you think about how late in the game he did it, it is quite spectacular.
And for those Herculean tasks, he has earned my vote.

Long time player here.
I have seen first hand players that have joined and flourished in the Brave Collective.
This guy and a handful of his original members have done something that Many others can barely achieve.
He has consolidated and coalesced a group of people, regardless of community, into a powerhouse organization.
Leaders like this are few and far between.
He has my non Brave Collective vote. |

I chose Lychton Kondur to be my successor as CEO for Brave Newbies Inc. some time ago, and for all intents and purposes he is now the current leader of the Brave Collective, although it is the Council of Newbie Management standing behind him that does most of the heavy managerial lifting. Other than the occasional advisory and motivational role, I currently have no formal responsabilities in BRAVE. I'm ready to give the CSM 100% of my time. |

I joined BNI when it was 4 days old and I was 2 weeks old. I would have joined on the 3rd day, but I did not know about the 24 hour waiting period for leaving a corp.
At first, we were just having fun blowing up our ships and exploring new eden together. A lot of the spies and bittervets that joined us were having so much fun, they decided to stay in BNI. Once we got some good FC's, we actually started winning more fights. And our numbers were exploding every day. We always welcomed newbs with open arms and stuck them on the front lines with the rest of us to explode gloriously. People stole from us. AWOXed us. Camped us. Some would promise to fight us in frigs and then bring battlecruisers to the fight. We would kill as many as we could, explode, laugh maniacally in comms and reship to do it all again.
From the beginning, people thought BNI would be an amusing failcascade. Just a blip on the eve radar that would quickly disappear. But BNI survived. And now BNI is thriving. It started with Matias and his vision of what eve could be. He instilled that same vision in the BNI management and everyone else in the corp.
I truly believe he will make a great CSM.

Like many others in this thread, I was about to quit the game - I only had 5M SP, couldn't stand the macho culture in most corps - when I read a couple of Matias's posts, and decided to spend the last few days of my subscription with BNI, to check if it was really like that. I now have 4 toons across BRAVE, and pay for 3 accounts.
Also, have you seen this man in tassels?

Huh. No criticism yet, so I'll drop in with my bittervet shitshow.
Your platform boils down to a vague starry-eyed "make Eve better". I know being terse in the original announcement is a good thing, but the post doesn't exactly inspire trust in your intentions and qualifications. Having the support of all of BNI is something, but sheer support does not a good CSM make. I did not vote for The Mittani in the past because all the goons voted for him (in fact, I don't very much like Goonswarm). I voted for him because he was very vocal about his views, about specific changes he wanted to see implemented, and he came across as being very stubborn. My views happened to largely align with his, so he seemed like a good vote.
You've got a good start towards some specifics in your Reddit thread, but be careful to not have people write your platform for you. That's the road to disappointment for everyone. You already pretty much have the position in the bag, so you can afford to take some hard, specific stances.
Since I mentioned specifics, I should be specific as well:
- What is limiting Eve's "audience"? Can you point to any specific game mechanics you would change to broaden the audience?
- What role do new players have in Eve? What are they entitled to have access to, or obtain with ease? What do they need to work for? How hard do they need to work to get it?
- How much difference should skill points make so newbies are not stunted by them? How much difference should personal experience arrived at through hours and hours of play make? Or, in other words, what leg-up do you envision longtime players having over new ones?
- You mention the "spreadsheets in space" aspect as limiting the fun-per-hour. Can you specify some idea(s) on how to eliminate the need for / improve the fun-per-hour of: the overview, local, assets window, market window, corp management? (to give some examples of bad spreadsheet interfaces)
- You seem to want more "instant sandbox" content, as you mention DayZ and similar. How do you reconcile this with the Eve spirit of "lots of time and effort to get great stuff"? Do you think that aspect of the game needs to go?
- Addendum to previous question: what do you want to do about nullsec sovereignty/influence, the mother of all "long term grind" mechanics?
- Can you give some examples of how you'd fix risk/reward in some places commonly reviewed as having that problem? Examples include: off-grid boosts, hisec ganking mechanics, AFK cloaking, FW LP farming, cloak/MWD mechanics, incursions (especially in low/null space), botting/AFKing, "bluesec"/"blue donut".
- What is your vision of a new player's experience in Eve say... 3 years in the future?
Until you put out more info on what you actually want to do, my vote will continue to lean towards someone with an established reputation and views from a large nullsec alliance.
