iLoL* - increase your Length of Life and revenue - a tool for station trader to save their lifetime from senseless clicking
The new development of Science and Trade Institute, iLoL, allows you to save the highest buy price or lowest sell price in clipboard. You havn't to type it manually and with a single click you can change from buy to sell price or visa versa.
Screenshot 1 - overview
In the first screenshot you will see the iLoL in action. The iLoL registrates a exported market log and sorts the prices for you. If you want, you can save the lowest sell price or highest buy prices automatically to clipboard.
When you update your buy order with the automatically clipboarded price, drag the mouse to your sell order and in the middle click on the "sell"-Button in the red bordered transparent box to save the sell price to clipboard. Then update your sell order.
This is the "spare lifetime"-component of the iLoL. You know how long it takes to update market orders manually, with the iLoL it will only take two or three seconds to update buy and sell order (only depends of the eve client).
Screenshot 2 - settings
The second important component is the calculation of profits. In the first screen you saw a yellow bordered box with a percentage profit of the selected item. iLoL will calculate the profit depends on your skills and standings (see second screen). First step is to create a profile and second step is to set skilllevels and standing (also corp standing) on you current station.
You can decide faster and better to buy or not to buy.
Try it and you will never want to do without it again. download the iLoL
This is a free service from Science and Trade Institute, but if you want to tell me how much time you save, send some iskies to me ;)
There are some other features in planning but this are the basic components. iLoL is a java-based offline-program.
To run iLoL, extract it in a seperate folder and doubleclick the iLoL.jar or the start.bat. iLoL needs a installed Java Runtime Enviroment (link above). iLoL knows the standard log-directorys on windows (vista/7), mac and linux but if there are any problems feel free to tell it. Science and Trade Institute will try to solve any problems.
Known issues: Sometimes the generation of a market log will take to much time and the iLoL will read an empty logfile. You will realize this case and to solve this problem you have to export the market log again.
Thats the only issue which is occur in the three month testing phase.

Your download link doesn't work May be you're using the "EVE forum Gold" script + Firefox? Try opening the download link in a new tab. At least that worked for me.
To OP:
Surely sounds like a very interesting app. However, I'm not quite sure how to make the app fetch market prices.
The app seems to start up alright. Do I then "Export to File" in-game the desired merchandise? I tried that but nothing happens to the app. My market logs are in "F:\Documents\EVE\logs\Marketlogs" if that has any relevance. The translucent button in the middle of the screen is clickable but only copies a "0".
The app currently looks like this (screenshot) on my PC. Not sure if this is how it's supposed to be. My PC is windows7 64.

Ahoi.
The standard market log folder is "C:\Users\**username**\Documents\EVE\logs\Marketlogs\", its "hardwired" at this moment. The iLoL is watching for changes in this specific log folder and if there isn't any change no logfile will be read.
The translucent is copiing the hardwired zero for buy and sell price if there isn't another price. It's the proceeding of the "log folder error".
I will implement a mechanism that everyone can save his or her own market log folder. The new version will be uploaded tomorrow ;)

Most awesome program ever. I <3 you so much.
Just one question: Did you verify that this program is allowed to be used? I realize it doesn't do a lot (and certainly doesn't do anything within the client), but it saves so much time it's almost criminal.
A different thing: Standings don't seem to be calculated for me. It finds out the correct broker fee but doesn't really apply it in the overview window. Tax doesn't seem to be applied to the profit either. |

Its ready and will be uploaded.
@ not applicated broker fee and tax:
Fu, I forgot about it. I will correct it now ;)
And no, I didn't verify that this program is allowed. I hope that it is ok ;)

OK, I've set the path to my market log folder and now it's working pretty well :)
Occasionally, this warning (http://gyazo.com/f1335c7608760d0dee51a3c015d57b2f.png) pops up when I press the in-game export to log button. I don't know what it's saying but pressing "OK" and exporting the log again seems to resolve the problem. Am I doing something wrong here or is this a problem with the app?
Feature request: Would it be possible to make the "Enable auto copy" check-box persist between sessions?
I must say this is a very nice app. Thank you for sharing Krista :) |

You did nothing wrong. This warning will popup when a buggy generated market log contains numbers with four instead of two decimal places. The message is a remnant from an older version. I will correct it with the next update.

Nothing. But Elinor isn't supported longer, afaik.
And Elinor didn't start anymore after a Windows Update, so I had to rebuild it ;)

I will correct the issues at this weekend. Then I will remove the unnecessary warning message and set the autocopy to true.

This transparent allways-on-top frame comes from the iLoL. If you are using a windowed eve client, you sould see it.

The iLoL will get the look-and-feel from your operating system. If you're using these creepy Aero Glass LaF, the iLoL will try to look equally nice ;)

Java 8U5 didn't support translucency, according to the error log.
If you want to use iLoL, you must install Java 7U60 instead of Java 8. May be you can install Java 7 next to 8 and it works on linux.

Thank you! It works without the transparency!
There is a function "isWindowTranslucencySupported" that could be used before each "setOpacity" method calls. I'm not sure why my system claims its not supported when I use transparent windows all the time.

Hey,
The "Buy/Sell" Window doesn't really work well when you have multiple monitors, since it shows up in the center of the "main" monitor and I do my trading on a side monitor. I decompiled the JAR and see you use something like "static Dimension screensize = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getScreenSize();" and then just calculate the middle of the screen. Is it possible to have a selector in settings to choose which monitor to use, and then have it appear there.
Instead of doing "Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getScreenSize()", you can use something from here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6322627/java-toolkit-getting-second-screen-size
Since tons of eve players use multiple monitors, it would be a hugely awesome addition. |
