Well my clock is 5 minutes over the time the patch should be released. Even tho it is no news they are always slow on making it to the time they say. But why doesnt they set an time like 2.5 or 1.5 hours instead for downtime. I think that would be more accurate.

The news has been updated to say Database Maintenance is extended to 13:00 GMT
Why don't they just be honest and say the patch has produced unexpected results and they are trying to fix it, none of this database maintenance crap

You waited five minutes before posting? That's hilarious.
We're all gasping in shock and horror over here. They went overtime. Nobody could have foreseen this!
Bah. Should have started a skill that went over patch deadline by about 5 hours like I did.

Edited by: StealthNet on 17/09/2003 12:33:49 OMG it started really early this time.
. Go to bed, take some extra sleep . read your newspaper, watch TV . read some news sites (www.slashdot.org, www.wired.com, www.msnbc.com, www.cnn.com, www.theregister.co.uk, www.bbc.co.uk, <add your fave site here>) . work!
... but let them do their jobs... IT matters are not as exact as your atomic precision clock. Sometimes things get hairy, sometimes (most of it) you miss a deadline.
Oh forgot this one...
. take some prozac

Actually I noticed that they say 13:00 GMT, not BST.
Because we are in BST (in the UK), that means 14:00.
Either that or its almost an hour late (not really a panic though is it?)
BTW, sometimes DB updates just take more time than you think, depends what you're running the system on, I guess. Someone's probably sitting there wondering just how many 'microsoft minutes' there are in a real hour...

Downtime extended to GMT 14:00
The database maintenance is taking longer time than expected. We will therefore have to extend the downtime to GMT 14:00. __________________________

I took the really safe approach... 6 days to train, that should be enough
It's really hard to calculate the amount of time it would take to do a db maintenance and even modifications needed to apply the patch.
They are dealing with thousands of variables, so your best bet is a guesstimation, altho adding 100% more time inside that track won't do any harm next time (2 hours downtime ? Make that 4 ) _______________________________________________

The what? Hmm been playing since launch... and the first few patches went on like gold. Its only been the last 2, maybe 3 patches that have gone over their mark.
My guess would be theyre trying to find stability, so we can all play a nice stable game. And theyve probably gone threw a few patches now trying to find this, like last patch. It went from 1162, to 1164, back to 1162, then finished with 1165. or something like that.
