Hi All
IGÇÖve had a couple of incidences where my ship has totally disintegrated around me. OK OK with the help of some not so kind people testing their weapons out on my poor little hull and trying to then test it out on my pod, I manage to jump to my safe spot before that happens.
This is otherwise cool as I learn more about what I need in defensive systems. This is how I learnt abouSo I annoy them by being very sweet.
However there is one thing I would love to do. These people are usually there to pick on the weak, aka me, is there anyway to turn my ship into a flying bomb, so when they come near me I just shrug, sigh, hit self destruct and taken them with me. Turning there easy kill fantasies into a horror story of twisted metal and floating mods?
Please say hello before you blow me out of the sky,

Yes and no. I'll list a few "suicide bomb" tactics below.
Smartbombs emit a pulse in all directions. Sadly they're very weak. In order to take people down with you, you need a very large ship and very small people attacking you; aka, if you're in a battleship or a carrier, and they're in frigates, you'll be able to blow them up. But generally smartbombs don't do enough damage to take your attacker down.
Bomb launchers are only used in nullsec. They only fit on stealth bomber frigates. These bombs can be deployed instantly and explode a few seconds later for 5000-8000 damage in a small area of effect. It can easily kill many frigates and destroyers and seriously harm larger, undertanked ships such as attack battlecruisers.
Heavy Interdictors aren't about doing damage, but match the playstyle you're looking for. When attacked, these ships can emit a VERY LARGE (30km) pulse in all directions that disables the warp drives of all nearby ships, and this effect can be continuous for as long as you manage to live. While not a "bomb" in the direct-damage sense, it lays a great trap so that others can arrive and destroy your attackers. These ships have high EHP and are able to take sustained direct hits.
Cyno Beacons are a similar strategy to the above, but can be used on any ship. When attacked, you can create a beacon that allows your friends in capital ships or black ops ships to immediately teleport with you. If there's a nearby jump bridge, then other types of ships can jump to you as well. While you are very likely to die in the process, your friends will be able to avenge you. Not a forum alt.-á |

I want to rectify 1 error.
Jump bridges dont work on cynos. Only titan or black ops bridges do.
A jump bridge has to be linked to another jump bridge. Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

My derp. I was thinking of titan bridges only. Wasn't thinking about the starbase jump bridge. Fixed my post. Not a forum alt.-á |

They take some practice getting used to, and you can easily accidentally (or deliberately) kill yourself in the process.
Just a clarification, bombs can also be used in Wormhole space as well as Nullsec.
Also in regards to bombs, a single bomb (except in very rare occasions) will not destroy a ship outright. Allow me to use my own examples: I can use bombs, raw damage shows that I will do 8090 damage. However that's before resists are applied. It is also before signature radius vs explosion radius is applied. (and I believe target velocity vs explosion velocity (outrunning the blast sort of thing)).
For example, I blew up a mackinaw the other day. Massive sig radius. So my bomb took it into half armour, my friends bomb took it into structure and I followed up with torps. Pop went the barge. However my bomb still only did just over 4 and a half thousand damage to it.
Tonight, I was about to bomb a procurer when all hell broke loose. Strategic Cruisers and Battle cruisers lamded on the procurer and began scrapping just as I was starting my run... I thought sod it and launched the bomb anyway only doing between 900 and 1250 damage across 6 different targets grouped in the middle (gotta target for maximum havock right ).
Now, take a frigate, under special (read lucky) circumstances you can bomb a group or frigs or dessies and kill them all (I would link an epic bomb kill where one Stealth Bomber (Booda I believe was flying) took out somthing like 40 frigates with one bomb, but the forum rules state I cant. Sorry). However, most of the time your bomb won't kill a frigate and will do minimal damage to it. (I stupidly bombed a Heron once, I did 250 damage to it. I don't even think that took off it's shields).
A single bomb / single bomber wont always do much, yes you can get lucky sometimes, but bombers are better used in groups. (And when you use them in groups you all use the same bomb damage type). If the target's signature radius is smaller than the missile's explosion radius then you suffer a penalty to the applied damage of the bomb.
If you really want to get into bombing or you just want more advice on how to do it. Hit me up with a mail in game. Alternatively you can also go (in game) to the little speech bubble in a chat window and type in "bombers bar" (disclaimer: it may be with an apostrophy) and speak up in there. They also have public fleets and fits they will be able to give you.
Also, I wouldn't particularly say bombs have a small area of effect... Fifteen kilometer. If all the ships are sitting on top of each other brawling away at each other then happy days, you're going to hit a few...
For the record, bombing is great fun and hilarious (especially when you accidently bomb yourself) and I would recommend it!
Edit(s): Terrible, terrible spelling. Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person." |

To add to this.
If a frigate has fitted a Damage Control II AND actually has it turned on (got the amount of times I forgot to turn that briefcase on can't be counted anymore) a single bomb will likely not kill it (with the lone exceptions of very fragile frigates like the Griffin for instance).
Now...2 or more bombers working together and suddenly those 2+ bombs become a real threat to those same frigates.
EDIT;
Out of practical experience, usually a single bomb gets me into low shield HP while flying a ship that has it's main HP in shields. So a 2nd bomb would have been fatal, it's also why I don't really panic as I see a single bomber try a run on me...I know that I will survive, 2 or more bombs...well, then it's time to take action. I'm rather good with my tank module (I usually have them all on all of the time anyway, even if I am sat at a POS or outside a station. It's drones I am shocking with. I would literally be the games worst Carrier pilot. *Seraph turns up at the battle only to realise he either: a) left his drones/fighter at the station b) forgot to buy them when he got the ship c) left them at the previous encounter with another ship Or the more likely d) someone reminded him to put his drones/fighters in the hold, and when he gets to the battle forgets to use the bloody things*

Aye this is true.
Also rarities do occur when you can bomb a pod and do 100% of the kill. Of course that only happens when you accidently hit your own guy
Bombs are really effective (I find) in groups of between 4 and 6 (for a single normal cruiser/battlecruiser).

Seraph Essael wrote:(And I believe target velocity vs explosion velocity (outrunning the blast sort of thing)). Bombs don't have an explosive velocity, the target's speed doesn't change anything, it's just resists and sig radius.
And pretty much every frigate with a damage control will survive one bomb (even a Griffin) and most will survive two. Unless that frigate is actively using a MWD. 6 times the sig radius means 6 times the damage, enough to kill pretty much any frigate. (Unless it is tanked specifically against the bomb's damage type - e.g. don't throw an Electron Bomb at a Wolf.) |

Aha. Cheers for that clarification, wasnt too sure on the Explosion Velocity part which is why I put it in brackets.
Moral of the story here: Dont chuck bombs at frigs... Well you can... Just don't expect results... Ooh...I've been there, done that.
Actually there used to be a time, when someone saw idle drones anywere in our system in null-sec with our corp ticker. They would call me to come back to collect them or scoop them and contract them back. As it was for 99.9% certain they were mine.
I still have the option a. but then with ammo. Happened multiple times that I undock and after 2 jumps, just before I was going to warp to the low-sec gate I tried to load my guns/missiles only to find out, the ammo is still in the station. Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy
