Haven't played in 3+ years, anyone care to give a quick rundown on the changes to ships and weapons?
When I left, pretty much Battlecruisers were the bread and butter of PvP ships out there. Not many people flew regular cruisers nor frigates.
Just after one day of playing, I've already noticed these mass/warp changes, seems like BC's and BS's are just too slow to be any fun outside of large blob engagements. I see they even changed many of the weapons. Beam lasers now more DPS than pulse?
So what are the "In" ships to fly and weapons to use? I am a Amarr/laser guy, so info towards that would be helpful. ;) |

T1 cruisers & T1 frigates buffed, all mining cruisers are repurposed.
BC's were rebalanced, still decent, but with T1 cruisers stronger and cheaper, they see more use. HMLs, rails, pulse, beam weapons have been rebalanced. (HMLs were nerfed, so it's no longer DRAEK!) You noticed the beam/pulse changes.
A lot more is viable now than it used to be. If it's been three years, play around with the T1 Amarr frigates first, they are pretty much all viable. (Though I have heard a lot of complaints about the Punisher not been up too snuff, I think it's OK, myself.) |

As said the majority of ships are now viable so you can mostly pick to your play style but I would highly rate the omen as an excellent place to start looking. |

Good speed for a cruiser and drones if needed. Maller is same old, same old. But remember that all 5% resist bonuses were changed to 4% bonuses, for every ship in the game.
Amarr frigs are not as great as other races combat frigs. Having that said, a good fit is much more relevant than relative strengths of the hulls. Assault frigs got their 4th bonus. The Slicer is still very good but TD's ar very popular in frig fights these days.
Interceptors ignore bubbles and Malediction is amongst the strongest of them.
Geddon is now a drone boat with range bonused neuts. |
