It's Sunday morning forum o' clock!
A 5th Doomsday device that can be used by any of the 4 titans. This Doomsday Device does not deal damage or destroy targets!! Instead it creates a "wormhole" (just looks like one, not usable by players) at the target's location Ships within 15km (not including supercaps) are sucked into the wormhole and deposited at the other end The other end of the wormhole will be in a random solar system somewhere within bridge/jump range. This would be a great way of countering slowcat fleets AND killing titans by suddenly sending their support fleets away. There would be an easy way of preventing proliferation too. The BPCs for this device would only drop from 0.0 Incursion motherships. You could even make them 1 time use modules. Fleet Bookmarks New Gravimetric Sites Med Clones 2.0 |

Where did the evil RNG touch you?
Though I don't really like the idea form a practical aspect, it would be kinda lulzy. Shoot it into a fleet, and force them all to jump somewhere random, classic. |

+1
Perhaps make it a deployable so we can use it in w-space on our friends for super-fast exploration :-) Embers Children is recruiting carefully selected pilots who like wormholes, green killboards and the sweet taste of tears. You can convo me in game or join the chat "TOHA Lounge".

i seems fitting since supposedly sansha already uses this tech in incursions. I think it would be hilarious to watch half a fleet just blop down in some poor wh residents backyard. |

Us wormhole residents would like it too. We'd get fun fights. Embers Children is recruiting carefully selected pilots who like wormholes, green killboards and the sweet taste of tears. You can convo me in game or join the chat "TOHA Lounge".

I think wormholes would have to be off limits, sry gents :P
From a practical point of view, it would be more of a "non-consensual titan bridge" than a wormhole.
EDIT: I actually like that term so much I put it in the thread title :) Fleet Bookmarks New Gravimetric Sites Med Clones 2.0 |

Bit overpowered in my mind compared to any of the other DD. here is why. First, titan DD can only fire on a single capital. Second, most single DD couldn't kill the average cap in tank.
So what we are asking here is a ship that can wipe out 15km of ships (bye bye logis or a large dps wing) in one shot. Effectively dead for the fight because of the aoe fracture in the fleet. Sure, a cap could cyno back... after it regenerates a ton of it's cap and the fight is over, if it doesn't get tackled?
If it is just a targeted wormhole generator, that is sorta cool, essentially then just a jump bridge without needing a cyno..... Don't mean to be rude, but I honestly cannot see how this would work without being either overpowered, underpowered or just a novelty... |

If it could be fired more frequently than a normal DD and only worked on a single target, i think thats a decent place to start |

Yeah... a 15km radius bubble is pretty big. Might be a little bit too strong.
1 potential balance factor is "wormhole mass". It's a fundamental feature of usable wormholes that they have a mass limit and once e.g. 3 billion Kg has jumped through it collapses. This weapon could be designed to "force jump" 1 ship at a time going outwards from the centre of impact until a predefined mass limit has been reached. If this is set anywhere near C5/6 wormholes, that would mean 2 or 3 capitals or about 20 battleships or up to around 50 cruisers. (Or some combination of the above with total mass of approx 3 billion Kg)
I think if you were to limit by removing the AOE entirely, it wouldn't be worth using since a normal doomsday could just blap a dreadnought or carrier instead of sending it away somewhere. Fleet Bookmarks New Gravimetric Sites Med Clones 2.0 |

sounds fun but the weapon would need a total mass limit to prevent abuse

Perhaps, like 1 guy said. Make it so its got a fast ROF but can only hit 1 ship at a time (seems kinda OP still). Rather, make it AOE, but rearloaded (fires at end of say a 10 min charge period, then waits another 10 mins on CD)
Also another limitation could be that it DOES need to target a cyno (so you can use the thing to trap a small group of enemy forces.) |

A mass limit will be needed to keep it balanced. Which means that the Titan firing the doomsday should have no way to know where they will end up because, if he does know where they will end up, he can arrange for there to be a fleet waiting for them. A fleet large enough to deal with the maximum mass of ships being sent through.
Meaning that they are going to die if the Titan pilot knows where they are going. The only counter is a cyno, which is a bad idea. Partly because it makes a cyno something that must be carried by everyone and partly because it would remove far more than just the mass limit as ships jump out to save their allies.
It would be better to just send them to a random system so they have a chance to survive long enough to return to the battle.
I'm also a bit concerned about the ability to reliably remove the enemy fleet commander with a single shot. |
