Another pair of very basic questions I'm almost too ashamed to ask.
1. I have some modules that take scripts e.g. tracking computer. In combat, I turn on the module but it dawns on me that the loaded scripts never diminish. I assume they are like other charges and eventually run out? So how do I activate them? I've looked on Eve Wiki but can't see the answer.
2. What is the quickest/best way to turn my ship through 180 degrees and run away from all the nasty people (without warping out)?
Going by past experience I bet some helpful person will have responded by the time I get out of the shower.

1. Scripts do now work like ammo. They are infinite. So if you have a tracking computer, you only have to buy 1 of each script and then you are set until you lose the ship.
2. Double click in space..... Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

You don't need scripts at all to use the module. They alter the function of the module. On a tracking computer, for example, it normally gives you a small range bonus and a small tracking speed bonus. The tracking speed script eliminates the range bonus to double the tracking speed bonus, and the range script removes the tracking speed bonus to double the range bonus.
They're basically just modifications, they're not really "ammo". Not a forum alt.-á |

About your 2., double clicking in space in a direction to your enemies does the trick, but you can also :
1. find a celestial object (e.g planet, stargate, station or whatever) that's in a direction taking you away from your enemies, and align to this object. It'll allow you to warp out to it almost instantly if **** hits the fan. Problem is you won't always have a celestial object in the direction you want to head in.
2. you can also set your "keep at range" at a great value, say > 100km, and use this on an enemy if you want to run away from him. Problem is this only makes you run from 1 target, which could very well make you run towards others. |

Many thanks for the responses. I'm currently 2000 miles AFK so will investigate when I'm home.
J'Poll - has there been a change to ammo depletion? My hybrid charges needed topping up last time I played three weeks ago.
All - Scripts info noted.
J'Poll/Seliah - So I can zoom out on the normal flight view to create some space (ha ha) and click behind the ship?
When I fly my Covetor I align to the nearest refuge. Once it completely swings round it starts moving towards the refuge and I have to stop it. Is that normal? Is the alignment lost if I subsequently issue a movement command?
Time for another shower.

Maximus Martinus wrote:J'Poll - has there been a change to ammo depletion? My hybrid charges needed topping up last time I played three weeks ago. I am fairly certain that J'Poll meant to write "Script do not work like ammo." and that the "now" is just a typo.
And BTW, not all ammo depletes, T1 laser crystals are also infinite.
About alignment: The EVE concept of alignment is a bit different from what you'd expect in real life. When we speak about being "aligned", we mean being able to enter warp instantly. I.e. flying towards the destination at more than 80% of your maximum speed.
Just poiting into the right direction isn't sufficient. If you stop your ship in space, you no longer fly at 80% of your maximum speed and therefore you are no longer aligned. If you are at 0 speed, it doesn't matter in which direction the graphic of your ship is pointing, it'll take the same amount of time to enter warp in any direction. (But being at 0 speed is better than flying at full speed into the wrong direction.)
If you stop your ship you stop being aligned. If you issue a different movement command, you stop being aligned.
If you are in a dangerous situation where you want to be able to flee instantly, you have to be moving towards your destination. (And not be warp disrupted.) Once you clicked "align", the only thing that you can do and stay aligned is to change your speed to a value between 80% and 100% of your maximum speed. |
