This thread reminded me of a wierd dream i had last night.
I was flying an orca and it got suicide ganked by a brutix and it was fit terribly, i remember during the dream going "Nooo! i would never fit it like that!"
I hope it was a dream anyway.. *Looks at combat log* |

James 315 creates great content, and content is what makes EVE unique. Any decent miner has backup ships and upgraded clones. The hazard of being bumped IMHO should be a real and tangible threat.
I say this as a miner.

I love how miners experience so much consternation over THE CODE.
Basically it is asking you to do only TWO things, one of which is trivial.
1. Pay 10m for a year (trivial) 2. NOT AFK mine all f'ing day every day
#2 is something everyone should be doing and should WANT to be doing.
But the miners are so entrenched in their way that they simply can't NOT AFK mine and it's sad. They know no other way, they are dead inside and deliver no meaningful content to the game outside of being wrapped up in the terms of THE CODE whether they like to be or not.
STOP mining AFK STOP mining all day, every day And especially, STOP running automation scripts
I, for one, welcome the savior of high-sec and our new CODE overlord. |

You do know it's impossible to AFK mine without running some dubious bot program right?

I've had CODE come after my excessively large mining fleet twice already. They have gotten 0 kills and 0 tears so far. Play smart and treat them like ghosts. They will move on.
I also gank miners for fun on the side while mining, so don't go and think all gankers are evil or something. Some of us just like to pewpew defenseless ships because we suck and we know it. |

Well, the OP is either extremely naive in thinking that this thread would be in any way productive, or an anonymous New Order alt trying to get more publicity. In fairness, the CODE monkeys aren't saviours of any variety; they're extortionist cowards too crap at PVP to go out to Lowsec where people can and will fight back and hand them their asses on a platter. However, that being said, and much as I dislike the New Order, I dislike whiny Highsec carebears even more. If you don't want to get ganked, then mine in a tank fit Proc or Skiff and laugh as the idiots bounce off you and get Concordokkened... then loot their wrecks. If you mine afk in a yield fit retriever while soloing in a 0.5 system (especially if you're semi or fully afk), then you deserve to get ganked. Emergent Gameplay isn't just about bullies kicking sand in the faces of those unable to fight back; it's about adapting and evolving your gameplay style so that when said bullies rock on up, you make them work for their kill, or better yet play them at their own game and send them home crying (after all, ganker tears, especially CODE tears, are the very sweetest tears of all).
So in summary, use tanked mining barges, work in a fleet, stay aligned, keep an eye on both local and D-scan. If you do this, you will be pretty much as safe as it's possible to be while mining. Contrary to most ganker's stated beliefs, they NEED miners to provide them with cheap minerals with which to continue their asshattery. Better yet, adapt and profit. Use your minerals to build Catalysts AND Retrievers, sell them to both sides and laugh your ass off all the way to the bank. |

Carebears, me explain it this way:
CODE is a fascinating phenomenon not unlike many religious crusades and persecution streaks of the past.
They start an open war against an activity (afk mining w/o bots) that they simply don't like. There isn't anything prohibiting that activity, and by design, the game actually encourages it. And, because they don't like that other activity, they automatically feel superior to the others.
And then they decide to just subjugate everybody on the grounds of guilt by association. Because a small proportion of players (not accounts, but players) use botting/scripts, they decide to just burn everybody because again, they have convinced themselves they have the high ground.
Remind you of anything? (And no, I'm not making a third reich reference. Stop it.)
BUT LISTEN UP! THERE IS SOMETHING YOU CAN DO TO STOP THEM!
Deal with it.
I've been semi-afk mining for the past year (whenever I have work to do, eve goes up on the second monitor and the barge rolls out), and haven't been ganked by CODE once. Ever.
Find a quiet system. Tank your barge. Keep an eye on local. If the Order moves in, you move out. Signature Radius: 76 pixels |

The CODE people are making content. What kind of world wouldn't have zealots and gangsters and terrorists pretending to do things "for the greater good?
Me and a corp mate where in high sec running missions last week. he just came back to the game and was asking me "wtf is going on in local". So I told him I thought it was miner bumping and such, probably the CODE guys and even linked him a forum thread. He said he thought that was a crappy thing to do to people.
I told him yea it probably was, EVE is a game of people doing crappy things to each other lol, or did he think we were playing nice back in the day when we took Detorid, Insmother and several other regions away from the Russians (back when he and I were in a corp in Atlas). EVE is a place where conflict happens. |

I have read your messages and have few point to make:
1. People are saying, Mining is pointless, I counter that and say, is ganking also pointless? I mean instead of grinding ore, you grind people of their living. You do the same thing over and over, grinding kill, for that I pity you.
2. They are saying I am hiding, let me as point out James314 is also hiding. He does not practice what he preaches. He hid in a corp that if wardec'd, he shut down the corp and make a new one. When is the last time, you have seen James314, putting his life on the line for his cause. Why does he need to, he is too busy count other people money.
3. I do not support or respect the code, it is just a bunch of words on a website. Some people follow them, if it was like is a bible, that in self is sad. It is not law, nor will it be, so move on.
4. They want to get mad, I say to that, do not give them that. We need to help understand that what they are doing is pointless and pity from us.
Thank you for reading this and long live the miners.
Have a nice day,

Quote:3. Ranting is prohibited.
A rant is a post that is often filled with angry and counterproductive comments. A free exchange of ideas is essential to building a strong sense of community and is helpful in development of the game and community. Rants are disruptive, and incite flaming and trolling. Please post your thoughts in a concise and clear manner while avoiding going off on rambling tangents.
5. Trolling is prohibited.
Trolling is a defined as a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting other players in an attempt to incite retaliation or an emotional response. Posts of this nature are disruptive, often abusive and do not contribute to the sense of community that CCP promote.
22. Post constructively.
Negative feedback can be very useful to further improve EVE Online provided that it is presented in a civil and factual manner. All users are encouraged to honestly express their feelings regarding EVE Online and how it can be improved. Posts that are non-constructive, insulting or in breach of the rules will be deleted regardless of how valid the ideas behind them may be. Users are also reminded that posting with a lack of content also constitutes non-constructive posting. Unless it provokes constructive, civilized discussion, an "open letter" is much better suited for a blog or other format, not the Eve forums. Thread locked.
