I know it's pure aesthetic...
"They are just bits of data, they aren't real, they the same as tourists, e.t.c."
However if I for one like to approach a game with a realistic approach for the sake of immersion and let's say real world habit forming in regards to thought processes than I should be given that choice.
I don't want to lose my ship, I don't want to have money stolen from me, and I want to make good business decisions. Those choices are easy. It gets complicated when choices become conflicted like excepting a mission that involves slaves.
I can decline a mission why can't I right-click on a slave and select "free"?
I understand this is a such a small issue. But not when you are taking the game seriously to any extent with regards to society. If you are establishing relationships with people on Eve than society does exist. Emotional associations are being established for better or worse. If slaves... (innocent imprisoned humans forced to 'work') are a part of that picture than the concept is part of that picture and if the concept is part of that picture than people's emotional association with slaves is being formed on some level...
I know some people have suggested to add things like right-click and give 10,000 isk to said slave so they can get a fresh start. In my case I would like for there to be different things like psychological emancipation option and maybe that slave could work for you in some capacity if they choose for instance R&D or Planet Interaction, Paid of course. If you are playing the villain than an option to have them make passive isk for your pilot.
Right now all I'm asking is that I can right-click, select "Free", and a message comes up saying "These/This Slave/s is now free to go about the galaxy as they please" and they are no longer in my hanger.
That's it,
That's all,
Pure Aesthetic, as it were.. |

It might sound odd, but implementing such an easy way to 'free' slaves would abolish you of all responsibilities, as then it just becomes a game-mechanic.
Besides, form a lore-point of view, capsuleers don't have the authority to set slaves free on a whim.
So you have to choose, do you accept the mission, earn some standing & isk in the proces, or let your mind speak and either decline the mission, or accept it, then transport them outside Amarr space (and give m to any of the RP corps that revolve around freeing slaves, like Disciples of Ston )

Aesthetics to one person maybe but the basis for roleplay for some too. Slaves are already being "freed" in that respect, so if you're a roleplayer take a look here.
Otherwise if you're just suggesting a change ingame then perhaps features and ideas suggestion forum.

As far as responsibility, any course of action would be better than leaving them in my hanger, but the Disciples of Ston option is exactly the kind of the thing I was looking for so thank you.
As far as lore couldn't you just free them illegally.
As far as practical, I was just thinking step one, easy as possible for devs to implement if they like.
As far as forums, I will put something like this in features and ideas in the future. I also liked the idea of relaying my style of game-play and the reason for it. |

Slaves are kept by the Amarr. Missions involving slaves will somehow involve them. Any freed slave should occur a standing penalty. |

If I were so inclined to play the villain than that is one option I would most certainly implement.
Even then I'd just stick with foot rubs. |

Well just open a bank account for them, deposit some ISK, give them something to eat occasionally and leave the door unlocked. Then you can call them "employees" instead. Works well enough for Erica.

Purely from a lore perspective if you want to take the immersion seriously, the Amarr don't just have slaves and trust them never to escape.
They are kept as slaves under drugs (Vitoc and later viral based) that they rely on to survive.
While from memory, Quafe developed an antidote to Vitoc (don't quote me on that, as I could be wrong), the more recent viral based controls have variable areas of RNA/DNA (as real ones do) resulting in changes in their structure that only the Amarr have been able to predict and develop the relevant antidote for.
Quafe are continuing to work on antidotes to the newer drugs, but currently no solution has been found.
The result is that slaves need regular access to the antidotes.
If you set them free you are essentially condemning them to death, which I'm sure is not the outcome you are hoping to achieve. eve-bazaar - I'm not associated with them, but support it as a worthwhile service |

As a nuance to above, the Vitoc treatment isn't endorsed by all Slave Holders. The Khanid Kingdom rather relies on control implants for their slaves ( 'pleasure' chips) something the rest of the factions (including Amarr!) dissaprove of. Within the Amarr Empire, the Vitoc treatment tends to cause arguments at time, as it makes setting slaves free alot harder. Holders are expected to release some slaves to freedom per year, to show their 'benevolence' and their succes at enlightening 'barbarians & heretics' to the Scriptures. So not an option that all Slave Holders use (but it is commonplace still)
Added note, if you delve deeper in the Lore, you'll notice neither of the 4 main factions are 'evil' or 'good', they're just all shades of grey, which makes it all the more enjoyable.

I'm sure that death of the slaves isn't the outcome you are hoping to achieve.
Yeah, this. The roleplay and aesthetics go deeper than you assumed OP.
I find that without a good mob to provide one for them, most people would have no mentality at all. |

Ok, I'm not that sort of RPer, but I'm going to humor you for a moment (as opposed to just telling you to HTFU).
So you are running missions for some NPC entity that approves of slavery, but you think slavery is bad. Why don't you choose some other NPC entity to run missions for, then? Also, isn't the greater challenge to your RP immersion the fact that the missions keep repeating themselves? Maybe not running missions at all is the solution. everevolutionaryfront.blogspot.com |

I have a large station container in one of the stations I use. I put all the Slaves, marines and militants in there. There is water, frozen food, slaver hounds, construction blocks, Vitoc, and anything else I think they need. I like to think they live in a pretty interesting apartment building in space. |

Dear CCP,
If OP gets a button to free slaves, I want a menu button to enslave people. Balance, you know. All these people going around freeing slaves that were enslaved with a lot of work, and all the expense of feeding them and housing them, let alone paying to own them. It offends me to think they could be freed just like that.
