I have a question and an observation about combat and environment. Many time while I was fighting i had a target and betwen us an asteroid or something else, the shoots from both sides get trough. Tacticaly obstacles in space should play a more important role in Eve than they already do. Actualy obstacles only cause you trouble to manouver, your shoots get trough and your sensors dont get scrambled or your aim get worse because of objects in your way.
This make a fight in the middle of a belt something quite simple and boring. if the obstacles hold the shoot, many players get the option, for exemple, of hinding behind a hude veldspar asteroid to take cover from a sniper megathron. Also asteroids should interfere in sensor making detection harder, allowing a better hiding for cover ops and hidden reserve forces during a fleet battle.
Of course this is just a suggestion and a question (about if I said something wrong about obstacles). Making this happens will give to EVE player an extra tactical option for pvp fighting, rat fighting, cover ops, mining ops and many other things.
Well this is just my 2 cents.

I agree 100%.
It would make far more sense for these enormous floating rocks to block weapons fire and sensors, and would make belt combat a thousand times more fun. It would reward creative thinking, and help miners find "safe spots", as it were.

The collision detection has been removed because it was unfair for pilots using the roids as cover agaisnt missiles while projectiles and beams never bothered with the obstacles.
Introducing the collision detection probably would eat to much server CPU cycles for the dev's liking. Doing it on the client side would offer a few ways to apply hax. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. Hmmm. Well, we already have plenty of collision detection. We can't pilot ships through asteroids or stations.

The fact that you can't see a ship on the other side of the asteroid should be enough.
Perhaps you could lose your lock if there's an obstacle between you and your target. That way, all modules and weapons are affected equally.
Makes fights in asteroid belts VERY interesting, and gives advantage to smaller ships. As it should be, remember that tanks and urban fighting don't mix well.

Yup, I agree entirely, however the calucuations and stuff the server would have to do might increase the lag alot. ---------------------------------

Maybe, but then CCP could get rid of the lag by removing about half of the stupid timers that are in this game now.
