Sometimes you hate the bad sides of the game - being slaughtered or scammed. But admit it, it makes the game more interesting. You have to work more and there's the risk and the reward.
Hello, my name is Hariya. I'm a dedicated honest and hard working ore thief. I move my ship in high sec systems next to my victims that are mining into jetcan. Then I'll just take the stuff and run.
I'm not "griefing". I could have a battleship friend ready to blow up your ship too, but I am not doing that. Sometimes the miners assault me. That's fine. Actually, it's really fun when you've got to earn your living.
I'm not doing anything the game wouldn't allow me to. Please don't whine. I've got the risk and the reward. I'm making stuff more interesting for you miners so say a hi and smile when I take yours, mmkay?
I just deliberately made my security status worse. Feel free to put bounties on me. Some people seemed to do that instantly I have enough implants plugged in to make sure I will not have any friend to pod me on purpose to cash off. I'm not scamming. I will have to hit at least 200M bounty before it gets monetarily worth it. Ha! Like if I will ever reach that.
Anyways.. I don't just get all that hatred. Stay cool, little miners. And give me all your ore. And oh, stop whining about thieves in the forums. You made it happen yoursef.
Thank you for your attention.

If you enjoy stealing from people's jet cans in secure space via those means. All the power to you.
Personally I find nothing wrong with the new can flagging system. Before, you had no retaliation, in fact you would get owned by concord for even moving to do anything.
Now If I want I can sit a battleship next to my mining operation and dissuade thieves. If I choose not to, that's just that, my choice.
May your effort be fruitful.
The only thing I dislike is the short duration of the time we are allowed retribution against people like you and the ability for you to just dock away the timer.

I agree, I know many respectable ore thieves (Hariya being one of them) and they will never be sitting with a battleship just to blow you up. She makes a living off of stealing ore just as Istvaan Shogaatsu makes a living off of stealing your entire corporation. Stop giving them so much grief. ---------------------------

I also like ore thiefs because it gives someting to practice on. We were doing mock battles (fight to the hull) when a corp mate mining said a suspious player was approching. We were ganged so told him to let us know if it was an ore theif.
Sure enough the guy was headed for the can, we warped in in time to see the thief grab the contents. Before the thief had time to jump he was webbed and scrambled. We discussed what we wanted to test so settled on how long a best could last aganst heavy drones.... 3.2 sec
Funny thing was that the thief was upset that we caught him and punished him
Only problem with most ore thieves is that they are in starter corps. It's been 3 years and CCP still has not implemented the autokick from starter corps. After 3 months or 1 mil exp every player should be kicked out of starter corps and form or join a player one.

But some ore thiefs smack talk in local even if you dont say anything. Thats why i hate ore thiefs(or smack talking ore thiefs). I agree eve would be boring without good ore thiefs. ___________________________________________________

Ore thieving is a nice little earner.
At present, I only take from so called 'macro miners', characters named jhdfs, sdyuet, sjhaksdh and such like, but I will be progressing to your cans soon.
I also help myself to secure containers that are unanchored. Hey, if you leave it floating in space, it's anyone's to claim, right? Ones that are full of ore are a nice bonus.
Everyone's gotta earn a living somehow

They are not respectable at all getting tierd of people saying words like honor and respect, there is no honor FFS. If i was gonna steal your stuff I'd be in a gang with 6 battleships and moving the ore in a T2 hauler with good tank just to be sure the whole thing is profitable. Same goes for pirating, ship will be destroyed and looted, then i might offer a ransom for the pod after i have looted the 280 million from the can.. |

LOL. Yet another addition to the "dangerous aspects" of EVE. Well I suppose the game can have high sec ore thieves just as it has pirates, all part of the RPG. Of course there's always the flip side where as stated in Athren's post a tief will get blown to high heaven.
Is it me or is EVE becoming darker by the minute? Pirates, murderers, high sec ore thieves...

ha! An ore thief trying to justify themselves!
It's an accepted part of game mechanics, and is 'viable' in the strictest sense of the word, but it's not a profession, and considering yourself 'nice' is simply hypocritical.
I'm not a miner, I don't devote much time to ore thiefs but please, don't bother coming here and trying to put a spin and what you're doing. Grief play. Low-level grief play, but it counts nonetheless.
"stop whining about thieves on the forum"? You're just as bad doing this, nothing more than a troll post.
If you want to get a kick out of griefing, do something that at least takes some modicum of skill and effort, like belt piracy. Even sneaking into soverign 0.0 territory to steal ore would command a little respect. =P
But as a highsec ore thief, you're nothing. Pathetic. Christ, it doesn't even pay well. Go about your business by all accounts...but dressing what you're doing up as anything else? No.

eh I dont mine the ore theives, the clueless ones make good target practice when they toutch my can, and the clued in ones dont bother me anyway.
Seriously, its a DESTROYER guys, you only see 3 beams comeing out of it and hitting a rock, and then try to open my can when im sitting way over their where my NOT a Jetcan is in my optimal range you will get you a face full of hyper velocity particals, and a couple of missles before your the only thing between you and my warped sence of humor is the eggshell thin skin on your pod.
oh and the contents of the can you just droped will fit nicely in my can

The fun you can have being a ore thief is limited. If you think about it, you are just playing hauler for a mining op.... the hate you get from the miners though can be worth it.

Being an ore thief, I wouldn't say that we're "nice". I'd just say that we're no more or less a valid proffesion then any other. Sure it's not to most profitable, but it's not exactly high risk either.
The funnest thing though is to find someone jet mining in a icefield, then steal all there white glaze. It's just fun to steal 60 min worth of cycle time of the stuff in one shot. Then have fun while they whine in local.
My favoirite memory of thiefing comes from stealing from a team of about six miners in an Ice field, they had two jet cans going, each almost full of white glaze (where the hell was their hauler?) So I stole what I could, waited for them to fire on me, warped out, came back in kestrel and poped their cans.

The best thing about ore thieves (and why I like them):
After stealing your stuff you can free them of their ships.

Edited by: Irashi on 19/04/2006 09:16:30 I'm not too keen on miners personally, I know they're the root of the economy and without them I wouldn't have a ship, it's just I can't see why you'd spend your time bashing rocks only to scratch a profit in a market flooded by cheap macro ore when you could be out in the fresh vacuum of low sec generating demand for new ships.
Ore thieves are miners who think they're badass for doing something anyone can do cheaply and without skill. __________________________________________________

Edited by: Vargrh on 19/04/2006 09:29:01 I used to use my alt regularly for stealing ice and ores in empire systems, mainly because i enjoy amusing hatemails. When I started every man and his dog would say 'you are exploiting as we cant war dec your npc corp' so i said fine, and I put my alts into a corp so people can dec it. And you know, not one war dec. EVER. So I formed the opinion that carebears really are all talk and no action.

Besides, without ore thieves you wouldnt get to see such highly amusing incidents as a thief trying to steal mined ice....in a merlin? "It's better to stay silent and appear stupid, than to open your mouth and leave no doubt!"
