Currently EVE-Files (+ others) are unreachable, why I am not sure. There seem to be a heavy load on the servers for some reason as I myself get about 75% ping loss, and am unable to even connect remotely.
I am temporary trying to redirect traffic to localhost to regain access to see what the problem is but I has of now no idea what is going on or when it will be back to normal.
Will keep you posted.

Edited by: Cigs Mcduff on 18/04/2006 21:16:00 Not sure if this is relevant but about 12-15hours ago EVE-Search was completely unresponseive, picture wouldn't even load, reboot of pc didn't help so must of been server side

You got me scared for a minute then. Went to eve-files.com and ended up with a project I'd done for my Uni degree a couple of months back. I was like "how the **** did he manage to get that?!"
Good luck sorting it out mate

Its you, the links are now directing to localhost, which means if you have a webserver running on your system, it'll display that. In my case it was a Uni project, perhaps you have an ore map.

Edited by: Chribba on 18/04/2006 21:36:13 Yeah dns has been repointed to localhost in aid to try and reduce the amount of load on the server, if that is the case.
As well as I have to do some arp posioning to route the traffic off to another box since I cannot even access the routers
At least now the fw gui is loading up slowly, so I hope to get there soon and find the cause.
UPDATE: And the fw shows about 60,000 connections...

I have now located the problem, which is the sql database that is using up about 150% cpu causing everything else to not respond.
I will try locate the issue that started it to eat cpu and see how I can prevent this from happening in the future.
I will do some error search before letting you all back on again.

I have currently limited the bw to 1mb/s, but will remove the lock shortly for full speed just want to ensure I don't get locked out instantly again.

And my custards always tell me that they don't actually need out of band management.
I assume that in this instance it isn't your call though. ______________________

bandwidth limit has been lifted, and things are back to full speed again. I have not yet found the initial problem, but I have a good idea of where to start looking as by the bandwidth stats I have a drop from 7mb/s right down to zero instantly, so I should be able to find the cause.
But that is due for tomorrow as it is almost 2am here and I will be getting up for work in just a few hours.
So hopefully a decent explanation tomorrow, until then have fun and sorry for not noticing earlier, might think about including my spare cellnumber so you can sms me the next time.
