I always knew about camera drones but i was curious as to how you can pass them into a pos (to look at it) through its shields?

Actually, this one is easy:
Camera Drones are constantly in a state of warp, which as we all know, allows physical objects to pass through one another. This warp-state also allows camera drones to travel nearly instanteously across great distances because warp is relative to mass and the mass of camera drones is nearly insignificant. This is why they are not effected by the ship itself traveling through warp: they are already in warp themselves. The only time they are returned to ship is when a ship is molecularly dismantled in preperation for travel via stargate.
Also, they are able to give almost instant pictures because the continually warp between the ship, their assigned position relative to the ship, and the nearest receiver antenna on the hull of the ship.
Next question, please.

P.S. Yes, I do own Star Trek, Star Wars, and many other sci-fi technical manuals. Why do you ask?

Camera drones are composed entirely of a form of matter which does not interact with the electromagnetic force, the weak force and the strong force. This is why they can pass though anything.

Camera drones don't move with your camera--they're just used to create the image that you see. There's no need for the drones to follow your view.

I agree that it might be funny for newer players to see this kind of stuff, but please avoid posting it here, it's not really a topic for General Discussions.

So...
Why can't I blow up the camera drone and blind my opponents?
I prefer to selectively edit some of EVE's "canon." I view from outside the ship because it looks cooler than from inside. I guess if you are a die-hard roleplayer you need explanations to keep the immersion, but I don't care about immersion, I care about cool graphics in the game I'm playing :)

Edited by: Idara on 19/04/2006 18:15:45 Well the Chron says that new drones are plentiful and shooting them is pointless as the ship has many, many, many spares.

But why aren't they destroyed by smartbombs? If they are, then there should be a brief period of blindness before the replacement camera gets into position, no?

It sure was a lot easier when we were told the ship's computer feeds your brain a simulated image of what the ship looks like from outside. That didn't need any rationalising about constant-warp and mini-micro-size to make it sound plausible. ________________________________________________

That, too, is in the prime fiction.

The ones who are here to play a game don't. ________________________________________________
