A couple of days ago, I wrote out a lengthy post about modifications I would like to see given and/or returned to the ORCA. I bought this ship a couple of weeks ago, and It is sitting in my hanger gathering dust. I want to simply know where my post went because I haven't found it listed yet. I put it in the "Ship and Modules" section of the forums. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

I am very sure. I only have one tune with an ORCA. The other one will be getting an SOE Stratios very soon. I'll check anyway. |

This is amazing! Ive broken into Sea World like seven times in an attempt to record a duet with an Orca.... Always ends the same way... jail for the night, RoR in the morning, court in a few days, small fine, rinse, repeat.

Another possibility is that the forum simply ate your post/thread like it does with lengthy replies sometimes. Did you make sure it ACTUALLY got posted as in you read through your posted thread? If you simply hit 'Post' and walked away, there's a possibility it never got posted. Too bad you made a thread asking about it or it might have still been saved in your Draft. |

I am beginning to think that is what happened. Too bad, it was a nicely written post about the ORCA's limitations and disappointments. Oh well, I will rewrite it again. |

OP, unfortunately I cannot find any recent threads on modifications "given and/or returned" to the Orca. It is likely the forum just ate your post. It tends to do that from time to time. Try to use Ctrl+C to back up any post before submitting it, or using a browser extension that does that for you.

Just got through writing another thread about the ORCA. Wanted to preview it, and I couldn't get the thing to post the thread. This forum thing sucks. At this stage of the game, It would be better for me to just sell the blasted orca. Get as much of my investment back as possible. I'll work to get me a Mackinaw instead. This is ridiculous. Maybe someone else will get ticked off enough to get the problems sorted out with the ORCA. Screw this.
In the meantime, my position on the ORCA is that they turned a perfectly good mining ship into nothing more than an INDUSTRIAL COMMAND FREIGHTER!!!! If they want to speak to me, they know where to find me. |

What did you think the Orca was? No, they're not going to turn it into something it was never intended to be, nor ever was, just because you don't like it. |

"What did you think the Orca was?"
My apologies, but I thought that, when I first seen it in action a couple of years ago, that it was a mining ship - not some oversized freighter. When I first saw it all those years ago, it was using strip miners. What the devs did was basically turn a bald eagle into a turkey. I always tell people, " A computer is only as smart as the person whom programs it."
The least they could do is to create bigger mining drones, with the ore hold the size of a venture, such that people like me don't have to constantly involved themselves with the drama and headaches associated with fleets. I like my solitude, and I didn't waste all this time just to buy a freaking turkey. I do that on Thanksgiving and Christmas already. |

If you are looking into the best mining ships you can get, you should look into the exhumer class: Hulk, Mackinaw, Skiff. They each have a specialty. The Hulk has the best mining yield by far, but is fairly fragile and requires frequent unloads of its ore bay. It works best in a mining fleet. The Mackinaw is second in mining yield to the Hulk, but is a good bit tankier and has a much bigger ore hold. It is much better suited for operating alone. The Skiff is very resilient, but has neither the mining ability of the Hulk nor the independence of the Mackinaw.
Something everyone has to learn at some point is to read the sticker before a purchase. Just the simple act of checking a ship's Description and Traits, or tinkering with test fits for it in a fitting program like EFT or Pyfa, can save you a lot of time and headaches because of buying the wrong ship. I can confirm this from plenty of first hand experience. Even though I personally thought some of them were pretty witty and humorous. Some of the others, I must admit, may have pushed the envelope slightly.

ISD LackOfFaith - don't patronize me. There is nothing more that angers me than when someone insults my intelligence. Yes, the Orca has always been labeled as an Industrial Command Ship. No, I have seen it in Eve's own videos of Orcas being equipped with Strip miners. So, unless the devs, administration, and owners of EVE was committing some type of fraud - I know what I saw.
If you want to fix this, put password protection on all ships so that no one can steal anyone else's ship when in space. That way, if a pilot has to eject, no one will be able to do anything to the ship except destroy it. If they try to do anything else to the ship without the password, they will be branded as criminals and such.
And don't tell me that such a request can't be done. I know that it can. The question everyone needs to ask is why hasn't been done? Answer - all too often, programmers have little imagination. It's either mad programming skills, little imagination. Mad imagination, good to average programming skills. Finally, not enough for either, but enough to work adequately. |
