Question: Will my FOF missles target a player if he comes into my mission and loots one of my wrecks (and gets flagged as a suspect).
Thankyou |

FOF missiles should fire at the nearest thing that is aggressing you. A suspect isn't directly aggressing you so shouldnt get shot at. That said there are stories of FOF missiles doing very odd things over the years so I wouldn't rely on that. |

I appreciate both replies, but both of you seem less than sure in your responses. I'm hoping someone has the definitive answer for this question. |

Hmm, just tested it on Sissy and couldn't get those FOF missiles to attack me in high-sec. Even when suicide ganking, they refused to attack me. It looks like they only attack if you already have a LE with that person.
But, as Mixu said, there have been stories about FOF missiles doing very odd things, so better be careful. |

FoF do not qualify as a "Targeted offensive module" under Crimewatch.

This scenario just took place minutes ago. Running Enemies abound 5 of 5 with my two main accounts:
Player A and Player B both in Tengu's.
Player A, is equipped with scourge fury and he is my mobile tractor unit "deploy-er". Player B, Scourge auto-targeting missiles.
We both enter into pocket, B first and because he is aggressed he is able to launch his auto-targeting missiles.
Player A warps in, targets then attacks the acceleration gate, drops off his MTU at the appropriate spot, while player B handles the mobs with his auto-targeting missiles.
About wave 3 (and just before the acceleration gate pops) Player A switches to auto-targeting to help player B with the mobs.
On the final wave player A switches BACK to scourge fury missiles to finish off the gate. The gate pops. All waves have come, All but a couple mobs are dead. Player B is working on those mobs with his auto targeting missiles.
Now here is where it gets strange... Player A was the only one attacking the gate as he was the one with standard missiles in his bay. I hate having to pick drugs out of my loot so I decided to loot the can dropped by the gate before the MTU got it. I took the 50 scraps and left the drugs in the can, then targeted the can and blew it up. I was IMMEDIATELY flagged and I became the target of player B(which is also a corp mate and in the same fleet). I had to stop firing and finished off the last few mobs with Player A (who was the only character that had regular missles).
The drug can that player A shot was dropped by the gate. The gate was shot ONLY by player A. It was however in the process of being tractor beamed to the MTU. BUT... the MTU was also deployed by player A.
So unless I misunderstand the game mechanics going on here (and I acknowledge that is quite possible) these events fly in the face of most of what has been said in this thread.

Who's mission is it? Loot in missions is special and belongs to the player who owns the mission, not the one who shoots things. And AFAIK only the owner can shoot a container - fleet members have the right to loot it, but not to destroy it.
Also, it might change things that both players are in the same corp. I did my test on Sissy with players in different corps. As you can attack corp-mates freely, this might change the rules for FoF missiles. |

A little known quirk of FoF missiles, is that they will try to target whatever you have targeted. Did you have your alt locked?
They won't get you CONCORDED, nor will they ignore safety settings, but they can start new LE if someone is aggressing you.
Overall they are buggy as hell and there's no real compelling reason to ever use one. "Do not touch anything unnecessarily. Beware of pretty girls in dance halls and parks who may be spies, as well as bicycles, revolvers, uniforms, arms, dead horses, and men lying on roads -- they are not there accidentally." -Soviet infantry manual, issued in the 1930 |

It was Player B's mission. That would explain it.

I completely understand the reluctance to use FoF missles, especially in missions. But I only run certain missions and the ones I do, FOF work perfectly and with minimal interaction, allowing me to do other things (at my computer). They really are awesome for semi-afk work. I mostly watch documentaries and various EvE videos on youtube. All I have to do is reactivate after each launcher reload... then of course mop up when its all done. They are also relatively inexpensive.

Perhaps pick a system to mission in that''s off the beaten path with no mission grief kills in the site systems. Less worry then.
Ideally you can run a few tests though. Use an alt or buddy, out of corp and not in fleet.
1) Have them shoot your MTU. See if the FoF engage them when they go suspect. 2) Have them loot your wreck. See if the FoF engage them when they go suspect.
I suspect in scenario 1 it will shoot them, and you will thus need to ditch the MTU while completing the missions. In scenario 2 however I suspect you'll be alright.
If they shoot your wreck/can I think they go criminal and get popped by CONCORD. As long as they are not in fleet and not in your corp/alliance. It's just more financially viable for me. |

I just had to say you have probably the kindest, most cuddly looking Caldari face I've ever seen. Well done on the character creator. |
