I'm fairly new to the game and still trying to find my way into making a stable income.
I'm currently doing mission running as it focuses on combat skills - which opens up more paths for me later :D
Anyways, I've grinded through level 2 missions for a corporation in 0.6 sec. At first I wasn't thinking about what faction the missions were against, but I've lately since become very much aware of this and have been declining missions targetting the main factions. For level 2 missions this wasn't so bad.
However I've since hit the mark when I can start doing level 3 missions for the corp in 0.6 sec still and this is scarily different. So far every mission I'm requesting is against the main factions and as there is only 1 agent to use, I'm ending up having to go back to level 2 missions...
So what I'm asking is should I abandon the particular corp I'm doing missions for and look for one with a hub of 2+ level 3 mission agents? So far I've only found hubs of interest to me in 0.9 sec - hence will be making much less ISK/LP rewards - although the bounty/loot/salvage quality will be the same regardless of secuity status?
Or should I just grind through the faction missions, which would then mean I lose a lot of standings, which I will later have to suck it up and repair at some point?
I am under the impression that level 4 missions have a lot less missions that target the main factions right? |

I suggest finding few agents (even in different NPC corps) reasonably close together. You can use the agent finder to see all level 3 security agents in one reagion, for example.
In my opininion, the difference in pay between lower sec systems and higher sec systems doesn't matter that much when grinding towards level 4 missions. Level 4 missions are where you can get stable income by missioning.
Also, it really doesn't matter whether or not you're doing missions for different corps. Just make sure that they are all under the same faction. That way all the bigger increase in standings through storyline missions, which you get from time to time, count towards all corps under that faction.
Which region are you missioning in and what corps do you mainly do missions for? I'm in the process of grinding to level 4 missions in a particular region as fast as I can. Contact me if you want to team up :) |

Not that I have done missions in a while but I like you did any and all missions which screwed with my standings (for minmatar and gallente) so I had a little repairing to do which I personally do by doing the sisters of eve epic arc and choosing either min or gal faction to gain standings at the end.
That said I think if you only have access to 1 agent then it may be best to look for an area that has several agents, even if they are in different stations in the same system, or in surrounding systems. Additionally you may want to train diplomacy to increase standing and also security connections which adds a percentage to security mission payouts to get more ISK.
I guess another question is why do you mission? Is it literally for the ISK or the LP or the standingGǪ I ask as I personally found that I could get more ISK and LP from doing level 3GÇÖs than I could from doing level 4GÇÖs
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die. |

Thanks for the replies guys, I'm based in Amarr and I was initially doing missions for the Imperial Shipments Corp...
I was thinking of switching across to the Ministry of Internal Order so I can get to the Amarr epic arc to really raise my standings in Amarr! This corresponds to the advice of finding hubs with multiple agents - so I think I may do this.
I am doing missions for the ISK, but also for the enjoyment too! I don't want to get to the point where I find it a big heavy grind. I enjoy setting targets and working towards them - hence even if it's more profitable doing level 3's, I'd prefer to do level 4's when I can afford to own and lose a battleship comfortably. Not to mention I enjoy the challenge :D |

I'm missioning in Gallente space, but if we ever happen to be in the same region it would be nice to team up :)
I'm also missioning for a long term goal which makes it more tolerable :P |

Is there any real reason to even worry about stanings with faction outside of your own? I used to stress about my Gallente standings since my Caldari missions were pretty much screwing it over. I'm negative 6 or 7 now with Gallente and honestly can't think of a reason why I would bother repairing it. If I travel through G space, I get the message when warping in that I'm not wanted, prepare to die, etc., but I can still jump through the gates just fine. Unless for some bizarre reason I decided to join a corp that lived in Gallente space, I can't see any reason to bother. It is good to have substance to one's existence.-á But in the absence of substance, one can do much yet with style. |

At -5 faction standing the faction NPCs in enemy space start shooting you. Also below -2 faction standing you lose access to all agents of that faction above level 1. So if you for example have a Caldari corp trained to 5 to use level 4 agents, as soon as your Caldari standing drops below -2 you can't access the corp agents level 2-4 anymore.
If you never want to use Gallente agents, ever and don't mind getting shot at, go hog wild. Remember never to go AFK through enemy space, though. That could lead to a nasty surprise if your standing is below -5. |

This is a bit anecdotal: The corporation you work for can affect the missions you're being given. For example, a faction navy will tend to give more anti-faction missions. Often though, when you first start working for an agent, you'll get more anti-faction missions because you have low standing. If you keep declining and working when you can, once your agent standing goes up, you'll get more pirate NPC missions. This is all just my personal experience, but it seems consistent for all the corps I've worked for.

I completely agree with Qalix. Stopping working for navy agents will improve things as they give out the most faction missions.
You are better off working for the non-navy corps anyway as they generally have a better LP store. Look for the ones that have the 5-run BPCs for popular items like IN EANMs, CN BCUs, etc depending on the faction you are running for. |
